*Snorts and shakes his head as he comes to* I am awake... I am no having problems sleeping *hick ups* I am also sick from three weeks of drinking soda, I have weak kidneys but not bad enough for dyalas(Spell Check)?. I have made a choice, I am giving up soda, coffee, and anything else that will suck me dry! I am having a water today please. I am also now on a diet, I say this because I can sit in front of a tv show and eat a six pack of dough nuts and still look for something else to eat. God, I am a pig... Have a good weekend Tet Mates.

Hello and happy monday to all.
Ms Mod, I hope you enjoyed your holidays and had some rest.
Yesterday evening I watched -again- Stand by Me. It was great, because I've got a new DVD version (I had an old VHS copy), which includes some extra contents. So I could see the director, the actors and Mr. King himself talking about the film and the novella, and it was great, really interesting and touching. I thought of you, the mb, all this site... and felt very thankful for having the opportunity of sharing so many things with you, and for King's work, which simply makes me a happier person.

My niece packed her and my grand nephews things together yesterday morning and left to go to Wyoming to be with her babies daddy. This comes at a time when she has taken her baby Teegan to the doctor and they have scheduled an urgent CT scan for him because they think he may have Hydrocephalus and need brain surgery. She was enrolled in school getting her degree so that she could finally support her and Teegan without being on Welfare. She has taken him ALONE on this trip cross country. When she gets there she will have no financial support, medical insurance, no way to afford diapers formula etc. This man that she threw her life away for is the same one that told her when she got pregnant that if she did not get rid of it that he wanted nothing more to do with her. The man that was living with her in mothers home is still there. No one, including Emily, has told him what is going on. She did not want to tell him what she was doing because she did not want him to cut off her cell phone before she got there. This man has been by her side through the whole pregnancy and loves her very much. They bicker a lot, but he treats Teegan like his own child. He gets up with him at night, watches him loves him. and she just left him not knowing what happened. This left my sister and her husband to lie to him and tell him that they did not know where she was. Out of everything, I am left empty, heartbroken, pissed, sad, shocked. Every emotion you can think of I have felt it.:bat:

*Wulf gimps into the Cantina. He has a funky boot on his right foot; this boot is causing the limping. He stops at the bar and sits down on a bar stool. He looks around the Cantina. He adjusts his hat so the Tet Mates can see his young looking face. He smiles then speaks up.*
"Um, yeah. Go figure, when I am behaving and doing something good I go break something. I was doing a sweat. I guess I have to be more careful when I dive into the tub next time."
*he chuckles and takes off his hat to brush his hair back with both of his hands*
"I have been busy with school, and my books. I have been all over the reservation showing all my friends and family. I have so many proud of me. I am going to have to get my market plans going soon. I hope to have my summer gig going. The rate I am getting demands for my books, I only have my copies of the three, I am noticing... I am dragging through schooling... I write when I can, but lately I think I am just doing too much to the point that I am drained. I am kind of glad mom is out of town, but I wish she would stay home. She comes home tomorrow afternoon. I am just her main support, and I watch over her to make sure she is all right. Some things overwhelm her, and I have to go straighten her home a bit tomorrow. Bring in wood for a couple nights. I also support my wife through all her stress and trauma. At the moment it is "No touchie-don't smother me-don't feel like snuggling... I am just kind of a wreck, i will check in again before tuesday night.

I wish I'd gotten a picture the day that I counted over 60 of them in the trees. Talk about your murder of crows! :smile2: They're being piggies today and the little birds aren't able to get to the bird feeders. I've shoo'd them out several times but they don't stay away for long. :glare:

March 3, -35, This is the first winter where there are hardly any crows. Usually they are picking our garbage to bits on pick up day. I guess it's to cold, or they went to see MsMod. Hundreds of Field Sparrows though.

Welcome back Ms. Mod and glad you had a nice break. Good luck with the crows,
they really are very intelligent birds and I think they are capable of learing to

Good Morning, EVeryone!
Ms. Mod, hope the murder of crows go away and you are visited by an exaltation of larks.
Please, everyone in the Northeast US wrap up warm and drive carefully--watch out for those guys who drive like maniacs. As George Carlin says, everyone who drives fast than you is a maniac (and everyone who drives slower than you is an idiot).

I'm highly upset that my snow day is coming to an end in less than half an hour. I hope others in the northeastern United States enjoyed the snow and that the weather didn't cause too much aggravation.

Something has been on my mind since this afternoon. I was out driving with the dog, and I decided to take her to a place down by the harbour so she could take a leak. I pulled into a parking area, and a blue truck pulled in and parked to face me. I couldn't see through the glass in the window. Whoever it was never got out of the truck, never stopped it. I stayed in my car with the motor running and the doors locked. I was hoping that vehicle would go away so I could let the dog out.
It got to feelin' really creepy. I drove away, checking my rearview mirror for quite a while.
I don't know what to think of it, but methinks staying in the car like I did was definitely the right choice.:eek2:

Hi everyone… looks like there’s only me? Helloooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oo oo oo oo oo (echo echo echo).
I’ll take a couple of salty snacks, since I’m almost leaving for lunch break.
Last news from around here, not too nice. My aunt got finally her surgery, but they opened her… and closed… pretty much says it all… But I’m happy for her that she will have some quality life for the rest of her days, since they fixed some pancreas connections. Here, she must be dead by now, as hard as it sounds. I’m happy she could get a better health care in our capital city.
Moving on… My partner is finally at home, sending out Curriculum Vitae/resumes to everywhere. He takes care of the house at this time, and we’ll waiting for a new job position. God shall provide…
My younger brother, who is handicapped, was beaten by a bunch of young criminals nights ago. The good news is he’s fine and got a soft beating only, just for walking downtown. Security here is getting a major problem. We’re a small country town, and our politicians brought a lot of people from the Capital, who do nothing but live off the state (they get house, food, money, and go free to steal). Lots of arguing, citizens walks, etc. terrible…
OK, I have to go now. Hope you guys are OK. I’ll be back (eating the last potato chip).
Marsha, take care with all the snow... the pic with the crows is amazing!

Why do they do this to us?
:
Hi,
The 'why' has always bothered me too, Poisonbat. After all, it's not as though Mother Earth stops spinning on her axis for an hour, or jumps ahead as if through a Portal.
It's purely a human decision, and I'm sure we've all noticed it playing havoc, especially with animals and young children.
Surely, it would be much easier to just change school and work hours to suit, instead of b*ggering up everyone's internal clocks.
And I can't imagine it makes any odds to the farmer or fisherman, can you?
Man's hubris doesn't affect the time of the tides, or of the sun.
And if it wasn't for the mnemonic (and who decided to spell that BTW?), 'Spring forward, Fall back' I wouldn't know what to do anyway.
Bah Bumhug to tinkering with time, say I!

Aw man, I love the time change! I feel like everything is finally back to normal. I have more trouble with the "fall back" portion. But when I walk the dogs at 5am each morning I want it to be dark, it should be dark, because its early as heck! Yet another night of not much sleep. My daughter and my niece are at war, and I am stuck right in the middle of it. My niece posted a very mean comment on my daughters boyfriends My Space claiming that when she had been here last time and visited my niece that she had sex with a boy at a party they were at. This, of course, is a lie, but it has caused a huge problem between my daughter and her boyfriend. They have been arguing for several weeks now, but it has now escalated into my niece threatening my daughter with bodily harm if she comes here to Yucaipa. I tried reasoning with my niece last night, but it was no use. I tried to ease my daughters suffering, but again I was not successful. Damn it I love them both, I just wish they would get along. I guess I need to speak with my sister and get her involved in trying to solve this problem. All advise is welcomed!! :bat:

My coworkers have all been reading the Twilight crap. They are trying so hard to get me interested in it. I told them that when I work with the language I am working at a university level (they know I edit/write) and I just can't bring myself to read something written at a 9 year old's level. I mean, in here, I tend to stay really conversational with my writing, but when I am working on a technical article that I have to edit, I am absolutely merciless about how I treat the language.
I hope they back off with their copies of Twilight etc. I really don't want to cross too many coworkers and sound snobbish, but I can't read that crap!

I joined a gym on Thursday, and OMG am I sore. I went 3 times, and found that I could barely lift a glass of soy milk to drink it. I am better today. My trainer takes no excuses. I told him " Take it easy on me Jeremy, I am 40" His reply... "Yeah well you will be 40 and another day tomorrow so step it up":eek2: He is a really great kid that knows when to push me and when to hold me back for my own good. I joined the gym to motivate my son's best friend (he lives with us and I look at him as my own son) to go. He weighs around 400 lbs. I worry that if he does not do something he could have serious health problems. I have 15 lbs to lose myself, and I really am out of shape. But I am really enjoying going, even with the pain that comes with it.:oo::bat:

The pain will ease, you will become stronger and your body will become harder and tighten up. Trust me. I'm 40 and I started some serious workin' out around xmas and the change has been startling. Really kind of nice when you find out that an aging body will suddenly feel so much younger.
It's just the first part is hard. Hang in there. It gets better. It become addictive. When you hit that endorphin rush and learn how to get there faster by training harder, you'll be HOOKED. :biggrin2:

Creepy poisonbat... I hope everything turns out okay.
Our area too has had some bad stuff happening lately which is completely out of character for up here. Most importantly the murder of three young teens this summer and a rape (by the same man; which is still affecting our community), and it would have been more if this ex-military psycho-man had been a better shot.
The thing is I KNEW the murderer and it's weird not having him at my bookstore. He was there every single day as a customer for over a year. Is that weird of me to almost miss him, or is it just me being accustomed to seeing him? I don't know. He was always nice to me, and just seemed a little lonely and a little weird, but hell, that's me and half the other peeps in town! LOL

I don't think it's you missing this creep, I think you were accustomed to seeing him in the store. Did you see the news tonight? One of the "shrinks" that interviewed him said that he has absolutely no remorse and if given the chance he'd do it all again. Doesn't it seem like something that we would see on tv say Dr. Phil? This isn't stuff that happens in our area. Very sad.

Hi,
This should really be Lepplady's post, as she came up with the brilliant concept of the Cantina in the first place, for which much thanks.
However, it occurs to me that we'll have nowhere even to talk about the changes etc without the Cantina, so I hope Lepplady doesn't mind me putting this up.
So for the first time ever in this shiny new place -
GOOD WHATEVER EVERYONE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I trust everyone had a great weekend, and is looking forward to the festive season and etc.
I hope they still serve Irish coffee in here, and I'll just sit quietly here and wait for everyone to figure their way past the bouncers (passwords? We don't need no stinkin' passwords!).
Long days and pleasant nights
Well, Top O' the Mornin!
Hope all had their required share of green beer and little or no hangovers! Not a drinker (anymore), I confess I DO miss the GREEN BEER!
They have a heckuva St. Pat's Day celebration on the island of St. Croix, for reasons nobody is quite sure of. Of the many countries who owned the island at one time or another, Ireland was never one of them. I suspect it's just another excuse to PARTY.
Anyway, it's a very big deal, with a parade--pretty much anybody who owns a flatbed truck can be a float...loaded with a steel drum guy or two, playing When Irish Eyes are Smiling with a Reggae beat.... Ladies make and sell their Goat Water (soup!), fried fish and Johnnycake, beer is a buck a bottle and a good time is had by all, especially the parade on-lookers, tourists and locals, many of whom wear green Tee-shirts proclaiming, "I am NOT Irish!".
LOL...good times.

I have been thinking a lot about my grandpa that died, I can't believe it has been almost a year ( July 27th ) It still hurts so much, and I think of his smile each and every day. I still have a deep sense of loss for him. I see other people's grandpas and long for mine. I have so many people who love me and will listen with great patience about my grief, but it sticks on me and am having a hard time letting go of it. Whenever I am at his now vacant home, I find myself talking to him and looking for him. I know he is not there, but it is still painful to just find emptiness in a place where I found so much joy as a child and as an adult. He was such a great man who loved his family fervently and did so much for me and my children. Sorry to ramble, just hurting this morning. The house went into escrow yesterday and it brought up feelings that I thought I had dealt with. Obviously they had just been scabbed over and now are fresh wounds again.:bat:

I’m sure most of you will get a chuckle out of my question, but could you please explain me what is “bean bag central”? Could it be that you’re off to work? (I don’t want to think you’re heading somewhere else after your morning coffee and letting us know you need to “refresh” yourselves, or wash your hands or whatever). :dunno: I’m aware of lots of American phrases/slang words, but this one… sheesh, it keeps me wondering… :eek2:
I won't get offended if you laugh. :smile2:
Hi Ri, "Bean bag central" just means the place where all the beanbags are located in the Cantina.

I had a very late night last night writing an extensive little missive so I need some high-test today. I'll just be over by the espresso machine making myself a four-shot latte.
Hope you all had a lovely weekend. I worked my tail off. One more shift tonight and then I get a whole day off to work at home. *snide little chuckle* No rest for the wicked, I guess.

Morning everyone. Although still very sick, yesterday was a pretty good day. My eldest son passed his A+ certification test on his first try. My second son passed his drivers license test on the first try too. And my daughter, who is a sophomore, beat out the senior girls for the lead in her next play. This ruffled some big feathers, but she is so very excited. They based their casting on the play that she was just in. She was Johanna in Sweeney Todd. There were 2 casts and she and the other Johanna tried out for the lead and my daughter won  I am such a proud mama :smile2: Ok I am going to crawl into a bottle of DayQuil and be in bean bag central. :bat:

Supposedly we were supposed to have an inventory done where I work today. It's a day off for me, so no matter right? Well, we put all the work into getting the place ready for inventory and the team decided not to show up. I was told last night that we don't know when it will happen. Damn. All that work, busting arse for nothin'!
I need a four-shot latte with double vanilla syrup. I'll just be over by the espresso machine this morning...

Good morning to all. May this day bring inner calm and sunshine.
I see the critters out back are having a good meal today.Thank you to whomever brought the oats and grains.
I spy cinna buns in the Cantina and since it is Wednesday, pizza will be delivered at noon. All welcome. Vegetarian types too.
Herbal tea in hand and off to bean bag central.

Good morning everyone, hope it is a beautiful day where you are. It is going to be a sunny nice day here. I am enjoying my days at the gym more and more. I am not getting sore like I was, but I do see myself being able to do things that I could not just 2 weeks ago. This is encouraging to me. I am hoping to whip this 40 year old body into shape over the next 6 months. Goal weight loss of 15lbs and build lean muscle. This is not an unrealistic goal, so it is what I am shooting for. I will take a large green tea this morning to go, as I am off to work my buns off again this morning. At least my cold is better and letting me go at all. :bat:

All work and no play makes...
Oh wait. I stayed up into the wee hours of the morning. Got in the work and the play. Better make that latte an extra large.
Life is nuts here. I was originally supposed to have two days off this week, but I only had one. I still don't know what next week holds. If I am lucky, I will have two days off. This is week three of the six-day variety. Too much longer at this pace and I will have to check in to one of those medical establishments where they let you write letters home in crayon. I am so glad I booked my birthday off well in advance. I know for sure I will have one day to enjoy at some point.
Like I said, all work and no play... I work at home on my days off, and have a pretty hard exercise schedule as well. I thrive on it most of the time, but today I am pretty much toast. I pushed my limits last night.
I'll be the one having a nap off in the corner in one of the bean bags. It's a big bean bag, so if anyone else is as tired as I am, feel free to curl up, but just don't snore...

Walks in with a couple of mice of Buckwheat and Pyro, here ya go guys eat up. :smile2: I am truly trying to swallow my anger this morning, I feel that my friend Brownmouse's feelings are being stomped on, her outrage being called "mock outrage" and it truly pisses me off. I am going to have to stay out of it. When she started the thread "I am sad" I never thought it would go the way it has, people just can't understand and accept someone else's pain and leave it at that. :glare: :bat:

Good morning folks! Not much time today. I have to cut some soap into bars this morning and finish some work I brought home with me last night. Workaholic extraordinaire, I know. I'm doing seven days in a row this time. I found out last night. I okayed it, and the cashier manager and general manager okayed it. They're screwed for staff in the supervisory area, so I scooped the extra shifts.
