I heard from Charms and she is holding on. She is a little inland, so will feel the storm as we speak.
Hope SusanNorton is Ok too- that state had a lot of rains.

Hi Flake, I saw you peeking in today.

I am going to have breakfast with my brother in law this morning, it is something that the both of us did every morning with my grandpa. It was he and I that cared for him, took him to doctor appts. etc. Me and my brother in laws mornings seem empty, so we are going to spend time together. I don't know how it is going to work without my grandpa, but we are going to give it a chance. I will let you know how it goes. :bat:

Poisonbat, keep the good memories with your grandpa as prominent in your thoughts as possible. I lost my dear mother about 17 years ago and had so many dreams of her for a year or more. But then it was like she became a part of me, a very real part of me. She is like a guardian angel watching over all of us. It is difficult to describe. But some of her many talents got passed on to me it seems.
You are in my prayers, Poisonbat. Have faith. It does get better. And we will listen to all you have to say.

If the first one to come in the morning would be so kind as to add the tea bags, I'll put some giant jugs of filtered water out on the patio for sun tea. I'll leave the sugar on the counter and lemon slices in the fridge.

Good morning everyone.
Last week my father gave me a beautiful present. It's a blank book, to be used as a diary, or notebook... I love this kind of things, but this one is specially beautiful, because the cover reproduce a painting by an american artist called Laurel Burch. You probably know her, but in case you don't you can learn about her here :http://www.laurelburch.com/index.html. I think the pictures are beautiful. The one reproduced in my book is Fantastic Cats, and I love it. Hope you like it too.

I will take some of that sun tea, and I brought some honey for it if anyone else wants some. My first thoughts this morning were not good ones, but I was able to change my train of thought so that is an improvement. It was strange going to breakfast without my grandpa. Although we tried not to just focus on him and his death, our conversations always seemed to lead there. Most of the tension is between my two cousins who rarely ever even saw my grandpa unless they wanted money and me and my sister's husband. They are so concerned about getting what they feel entitled to, while I was happy to have just his favorite old straw hat and his cane. Just something to remember him by. My brother in law and I are holding this family together, and we are getting tired of the drama. None of my family gets along with my mom, and she is the one who inherited everything, so needless to say, I am caught in the middle as well. I just wish everyone would get along and this would be over. I will be on the patio or may even take a dip in the pool later. :bat:

*wanders into the Cantina at 3am her time, 6am in Sai King's time zone*
Can't sleep yet. I have had to stay up while my guy works on finishing an overdue project. I'm always worried that he'll get hurt and pass out. He hurt himself one night last year and I was so glad I stayed up late because he blacked out and landed on his back after sending a drill into his hand, and started to choke because his airway was blocked. If I had been asleep, I might have lost him. I rolled him over so he could breathe, fixed up his hand and felt so bloody lucky.
I just wish that I was off in dreamland right now. I am going to pay for this so bad tomorrow/today/whatever. I can't pull all-nighters anymore and expect to bounce back like a 16-year old.
I think I'll just have another cup of tea and wait around until mine is ready for a bit of sleep.

Good morning everyone, I am glad to be here in the cantina. I get the stitches out of my hand today. I will be glad to have them gone. I am still waking up to scary thoughts, but going to sleep is easier. I have rented this house for a long time from both my grandpa and my mom, but she called me yesterday and told me that now that my grandpa is gone, she wants to simply put me on the deed. I didn't know what to say, then she told me that she has learned from her doctors that her liver is failing. She has to see a specialist. I told her that if it came down to it, I would give her half of mine if I were a match. She told me that she would not do that, she would never put my life at risk to save hers. I was heart broken at the time, but she told me to ask myself, would you want one of your kids to do this for you? I have to admit, no, I would never risk my child's life to possibly save my own. How many hardships can one person bear? I will sit quietly with all my friends around me on the patio. :bat:

Another sunrise. I am glad to be in the cantina this morning, so nice to be with my friends. I will take a large coffee with some of that flavored coffee creamer this morning, and kick my feet up out on the patio. I don't feel like thinking today. I do believe my thinker is broken. I missed seeing Buckwheat yesterday, I think I was in the pool. Have to say hi to him next week. My step son finished his summer school yesterday, and got an A in the class. He has wound up taking over my painting project, and only has a small place left to paint. He is being such a good kid, I really hope it lasts. :bat:

First of all, I'd like to send my condolences to Shasta's kitty and hope everything heals quickly and well.
Secondly, it's so good to be home! I miss Maine a lot, though - it was seriously the best vacation I've ever taken. Our hotel was more like an inn and was the cutest place ever. We got lobster twice and spent two days in Bar Harbor and two days in Bangor. But now I'll get to the good stuff. :biggrin2:
The first day in Bangor, we stopped by Bett's Bookstore and he was kind enough to give us a map of all the King-related places in Bangor. We went to the baseball field King built for all the kids in the community and to Hayford's Field (I think that's what it's called) which is mentioned in "Thinner." We went to the Standpipe mentioned in "IT" and the birdbath across from it which caused so much trouble for Stan. Also, we saw the canal from "IT" and went to the Barrens where the lucky seven played. It was so creepy down there! I was totally waiting for Pennywise to reach out and grab me. lol Equally as creepy was the giant Paul Bunyan statue that scares the hell out of Richie in the book. I didn't even want to take a picture of it. Stu, the owner of the bookstore, even said it gives him the heebie jeebies. We went to where "Pet Sematary" was filmed and met the caretaker who showed us all kinds of pictures from the set, like Gage's tombstone and the truck which ruined the lives of the Creed family. We saw where they filmed "Graveyard Shift," and where "Bag of Bones" opens up.
But our greatest and best find was the real Pet Sematary. I remembered reading somewhere, I think in the introduction of the book, that King lived in Orrington on a certain road when inspiration struck him. My friend and I took a ride down to Orrington and didn't really find anything. However, everyone in Maine had been so nice and so awesome that when my friend suggested stopping to ask at a gas station, I figured it wasn't a bad idea. The gas station we found was like a super gas station with a bank in the back. I made a bee line for the employees behind the desk and asked if they knew where it was. Not only did they know, but they actually called the woman who lives there and she said she'd meet us at the end of the driveway! It was also her 80th birthday. She was a real firecracker when we met her, and she let us go back and check out the real Pet Sematary! She also told us that her house number was originally 666 but she changed it to 664...and still had a Pet Sematary in her backyard and Stephen King across the street. Hahahaha.
All in all, Maine was amazing and I really suggest everyone go and visit. The people there are all extremely nice and helpful and the scenery is simply breathtaking.

Cowboy, I was lucky enough not to get a 'coupon' when I used to speed. I used to work in a Tim Hortons and the cops would come in for their coffee. I worked graveyards and I would let them in during the hours when it was supposed to be only drive-thru service. I spoiled them, hence, they let me speed. I did quit speeding when I stopped working there (serious workplace injury) years ago because I knew I wouldn't be able to get to know the new cops in town. *wicked grin*
Shasta, I am so sorry for your kitty's foot. At least kitty gets to be high. It's not all bad. If you want something alcoholic, I could point out a few of our Listerine drinkers in town here. If you want a drink.... have a vodka shooter on me - I keep the bottle in the freezer so it feels like a sweet syrup going down.

Its actually 4.30 in the afternoon here so I think that's a perfectly acceptable time to start on the gin! :biggrin2::biggrin2::biggrin2: Lots of lime and lemon (easy on the tonic though!)

Ahh, college life. What year are you, where are you going (if you don't mind saying).
Afternoon all. I think I'll have a cuppa mint tea- my tummy has been off since yesterday when I got a letter from Children's Hospital reminding us of our 6 mos. check- up for my daughter's Orthopedic- I could have sworn we just went!!- I hate these check-ups, they are so scary. They have to measure the spondi ( spondiolithesis) - a crack in her spine- to see if it moved and if it has we are talking surgery. And if we do that surgery then her neurologist will want to try and fix her tethered spinal cord while they are down there and that is a risky surgery in that by trying to fix the tethered cord they could make it worse( a tethered cord is one that is attached to something at the bottom instead of dangling free - it can re tether and scar and be worse after surgery. They don't even know if hers is really tethered as it just looks to be hanging low and that is a sign of tethering and with her syndrome it is very common. There is no way of knowing beforehand except if she were to show signs of nerve damage- like incontinence, change in gait, pain.- which , thank God - she is not BUT again, if they go in to fix the spondi- they will probably push to fix the tethered cord. Surgery on her spine scares me to pieces. I am so friggin' worried. and I HATE this ortho. doctor. Sometimes we go in and he's all relaxed and like ' yeah, it looks fine, let's be like "Missouri" about this- he actually said that and I had no idea what he meant- I guess it means don't jump into action or something.- and other times he's like" This spondi really has me worried and we should really think about surgery if it moves any bit more" - but he is THE doctor for Rubenstein- Taybi and ortho. - he has done a lot of research and written papers. He freaks me out and I need to stay calm for my girl. Sorry I am rambling. I am just so worried. Please send prayers.

Hey guys. Work was absolutely friggin' batcrap tonight. It was n.u.t.s. in there. I am so glad to be home. I have only one day off so I will have to make the best use of it.
Last night was a bit of a downer. Too much light to see the Perseids very well, and I stayed up until the moon set in order to do it. Tonight, I won't bother. There are too many lights in my area. One year, my guy and I went up a local mountain and parked up there. We sat in the dark with many other folks in their cars and watched the meteor shower. The cops drove through with their jack lights and blinded us for a while, but our sight came back. That was a wonderful night for meteors. Tonight is cloudy.
Oh well. Maybe next year.

Good morning all, Brownmouse I know how hard those Dr. appts. can be. I used to dread them. Surgery is a scary thing. When my son had his surgery, I was a nervous wreck. He had to have corrective surgery on his left arm and hand. I can only imagine how terrified I would be if it would have been his spine. My prayers and good vibes are with you my friend.
My mother and her husband are coming down this weekend to do some work in my grandpa's house. I am not looking forward to this. I can not stand my mothers husband, and neither can the rest of my family. He is a snoop and feels entitled to anything and everything he sees. He has been known to come to MY house and snoop through boxes in my garage. I can't stand this man. He was trying to talk to me about something yesterday on the phone, I basically ignored him and asked to speak to my mom. He is just a creep. He is also the reason for the division in my family, but that is a long long story.
I will not ramble on, Thank you all for being there for me. I have such a social phobia that I do not have any "physical" friends, I have special cyber friends though, and thus I really do appreciate all of you. :bat:

Hey everyone.
No more icky presents from my dog thankfully, but he is feeling very sorry for himself at the moment. I've had to fast him for 24 hours so he keeps sitting next to the cupboard where his food is stored and whimpering! He should be used to it by now though. He is 4 now but when he was a pup he ate a packet of paracetamol which caused damage to his liver and stomach. We have to be very careful what we give him to eat but every so often his 'digestion'still plays up. As the mess he left yesterday was on my bed I am very thankful that this time it was from the north and not the southern region :eek2: :biggrin2:

Hi , thanks so much for the prayers and hugs- I should mention that the appointment isn't until next Friday- but I am a great one for worrying ahead of time. I feel like I am spinning a bit out of control. My daughter is starting middle school on the 25th- ugh middle school- it's a typical middle school- but she will be in the special needs program and have an aide but she had been in the same school since preschool (a typical elementary) and now she's with a whole new set of teachers, she has a LOCKER and a SCHEDULE and kids from different el. schools will be there and they won't get her and she is nervous and acting out and I am nervous and trying not to look it and when we went to visit it there were football players and cheerleaders and they are so big and so mature and my daughter still likes Barney and Dora the Explorer- how are we going to make this work? And then this dr.'s appointment has me twisted up. I am so worried. I will probably take a break from the board , my mind is jumpy and weird but please say prayers -please pray that Sophie will get along well in school , that the teachers and aides will be nice to her and that her spine is OK. Thanks everyone and God bless.

Nobody bump that, okay? We don't want an infestation of rodents here.
I think I will just grab a couple of vodka shooters and head out. Much to do still today and the sun is going down. Running out of hours in which to do things seems to be what I always do.
Have a great night, everyone!

I love that this place stays open so late. Some nights I just don't sleep (pill or no pill). It's nice to be able to meander in, pick out a good book, brew up some hot tea and relax for a while.
If I could just keep that blasted snake from slithering up my leg!

Wow... it is almost two in the morning here where I am. I just finished my 'to do' list. I am so bagged. Between smokable pain meds and Benadryl, I hope to sleep tonight. Much to do tomorrow before I go to work.
Today was a good day. I think I will grab one last coke before I crash for the night.
See you all tomorrow.
(Gee it is nice having more computer time now that my guy has gotten a new comp. I get this one almost 100 percent of the time, now and once his files are transferred, I will be thrilled with this laptop/frisbee. Ick, he hadn't defragged the thing since APRIL! It took ages to defrag it tonight.)
Must sleep!

I understand how you feel about the school thing. My son was so tormented and physically beaten and bruised at public school, that he became closed and distant. Kids are cruel. I hope that being in a special class will keep her from these monsters. My son is physically challenged, not mentally challenged so he was in the general population of the school. We finally had to send him to a private school due to his disabilities. He flourished there, no rocks were thrown at him, he was never beat up because he was different. I will pray that she has a wonderful experience in school, and that her spine is ok. Much love to you and Sophie.:bat:

Good morning all, I am glad to see Buckwheat. My niece's baby shower is this weekend, I am looking forward to the baby. A new life coming into this world will help fill the void of the one I lost. I helped my cousin yesterday get the old piano out of my grandpa's house, it looks really strange in there without it. So many things are being removed that the house is starting to echo. It is all hardwood floors in the house, no carpet at all. I don't like being there alone at all. I don't really know why, but I don't. :bat:

Buckwheat is our Thursday snake. He visits and sometimes can be found hanging off someone's neck like a feather boa. I am content with just bringing him mice. I won't wear a snake unless it is already dead and made into boots.

Could anyone with good energy to spare please send some for my husband??? His computer lost an eight page article he was overdue on and only recovered the first two pages for him. He's walking around in a state of shock and has to do a rewrite TONIGHT for the whole thing.
I told him not to trust the autosave function. Manually save, and if it is important, burn it onto a disk and make print copies. A computer in the past lost THREE MONTHS of my writing once. I learned my lesson years ago the hard way.

I have just about worked myself to death this week. My mom will be here tomorrow, and I guess I can hand over some responsibility to her. She will be here for a week, so that should give me time to get some of MY things done. My son last night was playing with our kitten Rayne and got nicked on his finger. He pulled out a bottle of Mercurochrome and started to put it on, Rayne thought he was still playing and knocked the whole bottle onto my carpet. We spent hours trying to clean it up, but alas there will always now be a pink spot in the middle of my tan carpet. Anyone got any ideas on how to get it out? We tried Resolve, Oxyclean, and regular cleaner on it, got a lot of it out, but it is still an ugly site on my carpet that I spent 6 hours cleaning just last weekend.:bat:

I have used hydrogen peroxide on stains, but you have to test it out in a corner somewhere so you know how it will react with the carpet first.
