Lots of good folks in here, and coooookies!

Sweets are well and good, but I'll be setting up a buffet for lunch. Some chinese food, some burgers and fries, lots of salads and greens. And a dessert bar too, of course.
As usual, I'll be at the booth in the front with my computer, and a plate heaped high with goodies from the buffet. I'm working on a final rewrite -mere pages away from being done! Woot! Stop by and say hi if you like. Maybe sit and chat awhile.

Good morning folks....

Almost time to get off the computer here even though I just signed on. Sh*t on a shingle, the comp is running on batteries and I don't know where he left the cord.

Oh well. The dog is asking to go out to the alley anyways.

Have a good day.

*opens the door awkwardly with one crutch and sneaks inside and sits by the window*

Is there one of you kind souls who'll be willing to get me a cuppa tea and a banana nut muffin? I'm unable to carry it to the table myself as I'm on crutches due to a 'minor' fall down some stairs Friday night! I had to go to the hospital for x-rays but fortunately no fractured bones. A twisted ankle it is though and I can't walk, so I'm hanging on for dear life on crutches - I feel so damn helpless!

Hope you're all doing fine. Sorry I haven't posted in a while - that doesn't mean I don't stop by every now and again - I do, trust me I do.

(((((((((((((((((((everyone))))))))))))))))))))))))

Oh Jeeze I missed this one, how the heck are you! Stupid stairs!

Welcome, come in, come in! Always welcome from my understanding. I should be doing my homework, but I am enjoying my peaceful mind.

MsMod, did you get the planting accomplished????:smile2:

Didn't mean to be ignoring you. :smile2: It rained all day Saturday so spent much of the day entering data on the new site. I'm hoping we can give you all a little teaser of it by Friday so you'll have the weekend to check it out. It still needs a lot of work to be finished, but we're getting there. BTW, if any of you have noticed that the posting seems to be more sporadic this week, that's the reason why--I've been working on the new site. Hopefully you'll agree it was worth the spotty posting once you see it.

Sunday started out bright and sunny so we did manage to get most of the garden planted. I didn't have quite enough time before the thunderstorms came through to get the window boxes planted, though. The lupine seeds we spread last year are taking hold and are popping up in places we didn't expect but that's a nice surprise. Now if they could just out-populate the dandelions, we'd be all set. :smile2:

 Marianne, I'm so sorry to hear about your accident. Crutches are no fun... Although, they can be parlayed into all sorts of perks. I one time got seated in first class on an airplane (including the free drinks part) because the stewardesses got tired of watching me try to shuffle down the aisle. Play it to the hilt, Marianne. :wink2:

Good luck on your garden Ms.Mod. I'm not allowed to touch any plants around my home. I'm afraid I've even managed to kill a potted cactus... And don't worry about the dandelions. If viewed properly, dandelions are bright, cheerful, yellow flowers that are extremely easy to grow. Even I couldn't kill a dandelion... :eek2: Unless I tried to take care of it, I suppose. :biggrin2:

Hood Morning, Everyone!
Hope your weekend was wonderful. Lots of storms out there; please stay safe. My mom fell down a ravine while camping Saturday & had to have 30 stitches in her leg. :oh:
Marianne, how was your Denmark trip and how is your nephew?
Galli and dragafari, sorry, I was being a smart-a$$. July 4 is Independence Day in the US, that's why we set off the fireworks. It also happens to be the cats' 15 birthdays.
John, hope you are reconnected now. You've been missed.
Good to see you guys! Large hot coffee and a cherry strudel for me, please.

It's late Sunday night here. I think I'll just leave a plate of homemade ginger snaps on the counter over there...

Still trying to get over the retired cop who tried to kill my dog today with his truck. It has me extremely worried that he will leave out antifreeze where the neighbourhood animals can get to it. Can't report anything. Cops look out for each other here, even to the point of stretching the laws. So, they'd watch out for a retired coworker, who would naturally assume the position of the innocent, wronged party. It made me cry to think of how I could have lost my dog today, and how I will have to guard her carefully for the rest of her life.

Maybe the guy will give himself a heart attack.

Hello, my friends. Everything ok?
Today I woke up in distress -once more- after having one of my nightmares. This time I dreamt that there was a new war in the world- a war between Europe and the USA. In my dream, I was watching tv and I heard the news. I inmediately thought about the cantina mates and burst into tears. It was very sad indeed.
Have a nice week.

Maybe my wife is right, she asked if I wanted to go home for a little while. To stay with my mom and dad. I am not sure of what I am going to do. My horoscope seems to say pick one, take a break from love or find other ways to spend time together.

Ani, is you that has the cat that is turning fifteen this month? If I can remember correctly, it is 15 times 7 minus 3. 15 times 7 equals 105, minus the 3 because cats only age four years in their first year. Which would make her a good 102, a will aged senor and a beauty as well. ;) thanks for sharing.

Pretty good guess what will win today. Read for a while, then scribble on a drawing I have been working on for a while, and then finish off with a movie. Seems logical enough. I've just been so bleedin' exhausted lately. I have to take some time to just do nothing in particular. It is kind of nice to find the time to allow the mind to wander. Hello dear Tet-mates.
I come to you with a heavy heart and troubled mind today.
Let me ask you girls here a hypothetical question.
If a guy has a girlfriend (he's been living with for more than 6 years) whose mother (in another state) is dying, should he take her for a visit the family set up? You know, THE visit. Probably the final one. Sure, she could probably drive herself, but should he step up and do it? If he's on vacation and won't miss any work and has no other good reason not to? Each has met the other's family many times throughout the years and nobody has any major quarrels.
If he refuses, for no good reason, should she get upset at him, or would she be over reacting because of the emotional situation?

If the couple has been together that long and there are no problems with the commonlaw inlaws, then I do not see why he should not accompany her. If he is able to do it, he should. It wouldn't be easy but I am sure it would be appreciated greatly by her.

Hard to know what to do though, unless you are stuck in that situation yourself... I'd say he should take her.

If he refuses, for no good reason, should she get upset at him, or would she be over reacting because of the emotional situation?

I think he should step up and take her to see her mother!
I personally am an easy going person with a live and let live attitude about most things but this is a family emergency and he should be there for his girlfriend. I would be really disappointed in him if I were her.

I guess I should grab a couple of cokes and a handful of cookies and leave for a while. My guy has gone off to work and I get to have an Alice Cooper day. I tend not to play Alice when he's around. Too much for him to handle. :geek:

I'll check in later on once I have gotten some housework done. I am expected to rest today, apparently, but I have too much crap to do. *rolls eyes*

Before I go...

Lepplady,

I think he should go with you. But....if he is anything like my husband maybe he doesn't want to go because he is afraid. (Something he would never admit.) My husband doesn't like hospitals, illness of any kind and I'm sure visiting someone who is close to dying would send him over the edge. Before my son was born I was on bedrest at the hospital for a whole month and he had a very hard time visiting me - his wife!

Maybe it's something like that with your boyfriend. He may or may not be willing to talk about it but maybe this will help you understand. I hope it helps.

She must be very mad at him, because when you live together (as sort of married...in the way I see it )you must support each other in these situations!

As that is just about my favorite of the series, I would gladly read to you!

Well Thankee skimom! It is my favourite as well...so far! There's something very comforting in having someone else read to you, just a little though I really get into it on my own. Mayhap a little too much...

Lepplady...what a tough situation. I say he should go, he may have his issues but it's really not about him, nor is it about her (totally) they should go out of respect to her mother. I think if this were me I would desperately want my boyfriend there for support as this will most likely be very hard.

All the best.

Since they've been together so long and he truly loves her I feel that he should take her. If he chooses not to then maybe they've drifted apart during the relationship. I can't say if she should become upset or not because I don't know the whole story.

If you truly love someone you will give support in such a time even if you don't have vacation time to use and even if you do have quarrels with the family.

I was just called to go to work if I wanted the extra shifts. I had to say no because I feel like I've been kicked to sh*t and back with biker boots. I do believe I used something a little less descriptive on the phone though...

I walked the dog. She had fun. I'm bagged. At least I know she is dry now and I can get on with the rest of my day. Emphasis on rest.

Greetings Everyone!

When I was much younger, I was so emotionally vulnerable, every little derogatory remark directed at me or as a result of something I said or did reduced me to a quivering puddle of tears. My mother lovingly advised me to develop the "hide of a rhinoceros," the thought of which horrified me to no end. Then I realized she didn't mean to stop using moisturizers and cleansers, but to not allow other people to dominate how I felt about myself. It was a long haul from the damsel in constant distress to the much stronger individual I have become, but well worth the effort. I wish inner strength could be purchased, but alas, it is achieved. To those of you who have left us for one reason or another, you will be sorely missed. It is my fervent hope that you will know love and peace wherever your path may lead. Strive to be happy.

Thank you Purrrtricia.
The deadly tornado at the Boy Scout camp was only 40 miles from my home town. And many homes in my home town were destroyed although no one was injured. The Platte River is dangerously high. It's hard being this far away from my daughter, my parents, brothers & sisters, and my friends.

They were right. Giving a child too much rope before they are properly equipped to make the right decisions it just plain dangerous. I know people who let their 14 year old's daughter's boyfriend move in with them and they were just SHOCKED when she became pregnant! HUH??:eek2: They just couldn't believe he would do such a thing after they let him stay there. WTF did they expect?? People is crazy:glare:

Great coffee comes from Mystic Monk. They're a Carmelite monastery in Cody. WY that roasts coffee to get by. Best coffee I've ever tasted! I'll pour you a cup of their free-trade Ethiopian-you'll think you're in heaven:smile2:.

Ms. Mod-the fad here is for kids as young as 10 to have 'boyfriends/girlfriends'. I don't know what parents are thinking! My 11 year old daughter was asked out by a guy and said no. When asked why, her immediate answer was, "Because my mom would kill me.":grinning:

Happy day to all!

The kids call it "going out" here although there's rarely any actual going out. :smile2: It's sad, isn't it, that kids don't get much time to just be kids anymore. And that they don't get the message that you can be friends with both genders without it being necessary to be a couple.

I volunteer at a crisis pregnancy center, and feel like I get a real scope of what too early sexualization does to kids. It's sad, and I agree that they miss out on a lot by not being able to see beyond 'coupledom'. This is one of my favorite soapboxes, and since this is not the forum for that I'll just step aside and quietly congratulate those who choose to keep their kids kidsfor as long as possible.

We didn't allow it until 14, and we had to meet the guy. No sitting in the driveway honking. Not to mention a strict curfew.

Interesting discussion folks. When I was in my teens, I made the choice not to date until I was not living at home anymore because I was not going to subject any fellow to the flippin' third degree my folks would put him through. I date a guy when I lived overseas for a bit, and then when I met the man I married, my folks only found out about him when someone else congratulated my folks on my engagement. I just didn't see the need to make a big deal about it to the folks. To quote Bon Jovi... "It's my life!"

Turns out my folks liked my man better than they liked me anyways. Such is life.

I think I'll just grab a gingerale and wander for a while now...

I wasn't allowed to date even at 16, my mother always told me everything has its own time and place. At 16 the only thing I was allowed to 'date' were my schoolbooks, that was my job according to her :biggrin2::biggrin2: Looking back I'm glad she did what she did to keep me out of harms way!

Good morning everybody . . .I have some news that I wish to share with you.
Our Board member Tcgob (Steve) needs our good vibes today. You see, his wife is very ill and he really needs our support. I ask that you please send your good vibes out to him and his family. He's been feeling a little low lately and I think we can add a little sunshine to his blues.

Thank you . . .

{{{{{{{{{{{{{{Jenn and Steve}}}}}}}}}}}}}

I just wanted to take a few minutes and thank everyone for all the well-wishes, good vibes and heart-felt sentiments. Jenn was unexpectedly discharged from the hospital Saturday afternoon even though she was not well enough to go home. With the help of my sister-in-law (an RN) I decided to take her to UAB Med Center in Birmingham. It was a good thing I did because she started feeling poorly halfway through the 45 minute drive to Birmingham. UAB admitted her almost right away and discovered that she had a partially collapsed lung after doing a chest x-ray. Oddly enough, the podunk chicken **** hospital she was in before had done a chest x-ray just that morning and found nothing. I stayed with her while they put a chest tube in to drain the fluid. I don't know when she will get out but our lives will be dramatically different when she does. She will be on a diabetic, low-sodium diet and will have to get plenty of exercise to build her heart back up.

To say all of this came at a bad time would be a gross understatement. The stress of learning a new job combined with the stress of watching the woman you married suffer is absolutely overwhelming at times. Money is very tight because I haven't been able to work many jobs and I spend most of my time worrying about how we'll make it through this month. Thats why I haven't been around much. I've been on the board some, but I usually just look at my keyboard and decide I don't feel much like posting. Reading all that you guys wrote really helped, and I'm taking this time to thank each and every one of you.

Maybe I'll put up some more animated gifs when this is all over. :wink2::biggrin2:

Fascinating, and it looks marvellous, major kudos to Ms Mod, Jordan, Brian and all those involved.
