Hi everyone!! I'm late getting in today......been trying to straighten out a mess at the bank. They debited my account for $15,000--the check I wrote was $1500. I didn't have $15,000 of course, so they also charged me enormous overdraft fees. It's their error, so they will fix it, but it's been nerve wracking trying to get it sorted out.

In light of things, I'll have a gin & ginger to help calm my nerves a bit--heavy on the gin, light on the ginger, please!!

I'm not as great at keeping up with everyone's actual locations as others, but I've been worried about all of the severe weather and natural disasters and battle zones some of you are in the middle of. Good Morning, Everyone!
It's great to be back among my tetmates. London was truly amazing--I'll let John tell the story since he's doing such a fantastic job at keeping everyone on the edge of their seats (and add that Ms. Mod is indeed as warm and witty as he says).

But I do want to tell you about meeting Marianne (for the 2nd time):

Jim and I arrived the morning of May 8, Thursday, tired out from a 10-hour flight, and Marianne was there to meet us. She had taken the day off work.
Marianne is just about the friendliest, most fun-to-be with people I know and she really showed her colors that day.
She helped us with our bags, took us to an Underground station, showed us how to buy the little cards that get you on to the subway, went with us on to the subway that was going to our hotel (little did we know there were 2 Holiday Inns in Kensington!) and waited patiently in a nearby Starbucks while we showered and changed.

She then took us on a terrific walking tour of London, including Harrods, Hyde Park, Picadilly Circus, Trafalgar Square and the Duke of Wellington Pub, where we met Pale Rider! He is just as witty and intelligent in person as he is on the board (come back more often, Pale!)
We had dinner and then she showed us how to get back to the hotel and we rode the Underground by ourselves with no trouble at all, thanks to her expert guidance.

John has mentioned that she picked out the restaurant in Soho where we had dinner--and what a fantastic place it was! I'm not going to mention who had the pate and who did not (but had "bangers"--sausage--instead LOL).

On the last day of our stay in London, Marianne had Jim and I to her flat and treated us to a cup of real English tea, the kind with milk.

So here's to Marianne with many thanks from 2 American travelers! You are a great friend and I'm so glad we got to meet again!

ps Yes, I do have pictures to post and I will as soon as I figure out how to do it.

I would like everyone to think about my grandpa for the next couple of weeks, if you will. He's 85 and going in for an aneurysm that's in his aorta. They don't know if he's going to make it out of surgery. My grandfather is the greatest person you could ever hope to know. He's kind and funny and so smart! He has battled emphysema, diabetes, intestinal cancer, bladder cancer, and glaucoma. He's walking around missing most of his intestines, all of his bladder, and all of his eyesight yet they can't keep him down no matter what they do.

So, I'd like a shot of scotch in honor of my grandpa, and if anyone gets a chance please send some good wishes his way!

Wonderful!

I'm glad you had a wonderful time.

I think I need a coke outta the fridge. Tomorrow my husband is going on a business trip for a day and he is taking this computer with him. No net access for me until late tomorrow night. Oh well, that is life. I'm planning to make a couple of batches of soap if I feel up to it in the morning/afternoon. (I accidentally ended up getting peanut oil on my hands at work yesterday when I was putting some stuff out on the shelves -- leaky jar -- and reacted very badly. I won't be out of the woods until some time tomorrow, I guess... Thank goodness for good drugs and a doctor that lets me keep the good stuff on hand because he knows I am likely to run into an ***hole at the ER in this small town.)

I may also have a chance to work on my art as well, which is something I am yearning for, AND I will probably sit and work on my writing as well. :biggrin2:

Kim, My mother had to have her cat put to sleep for old age. She had that cat for 18 years and was very close to her. She also held her in the final moments, but she explained to me that she regrets doing that. It was very, very hard for her, and because Elia was asleep before the end, she would not have known if mom was there or not. Now she has that moment with her and it hurts worse. I know, smjohn. It's a hard decision to make, and it's different for everybody. When we had to have our little guy put to sleep last April, it was honestly the hardest and saddest thing I've ever had to do in my life. My husband was so attached, but at the final moment he couldn't stand to be there. I never thought I would have had the strength to do it, but I stayed with him the entire time, and don't regret it. Even now, I can't believe I have any tears left after that day. We wrapped him in a blanket and drove home with him, still warm, in my arms. The only bad memory is that after we dug the grave, I lifted my boy's little body (he was a miniature dachshund) to hand to my husband, and in the process his little head fell back and it really hit me that he was dead, not asleep, and so cold. I can't go on.

Kim - I'm sure your friend is having a really hard time now. She's in my prayers. ((((( Treech )))))

Hi, guys...I have a prayer chain request. My brother just found out this morning that he has Squamous Cell Carcinoma. This is the second most common form of skin cancer and they will have to perform plastic surgery on his cheek (face) to get all of it out. Luckily, this is not a type of cancer that spreads or requires chemo, however, he is very worried, as we all are. He recently fought off a severe case of pneumonia, which put him in the ICU for 5 days, so he's a little hospital shy. Please pray for his peace and comfort in this time. Thank you, my tet-mates.

Good Morning and happy Friday, everyone!
Have a great Memorial Day, Ms Mod and everyone in the US. My daughter gets in tonight from Omaha and we drive down Saturday to S. California (Tustin) for our friend's wedding.
I posted (or at least tried to) the pic of the dinner in London in John's "London Through My Eyes" thread. I'll try to get some more pics up on Tuesday, as I'm taking that day off to recover from the weekend.
Be well!

Hope you are all well and enjoying the day. Hot black coffee for me, please: I think I'll join you on the patio, Pat, if you don't mind the company. Thankee for the blanket, dear Motherwolf. You don't know how it tempts me to go back to bed!

*licks Mama Wolf's nose* Should watch where you put that nose, could get into trouble. Then what will gimpy will have to do? Go rescue you. I do try to keep it warm, I believe a sprout of drepression is in me, and I am trying my best. Somedays it is hard, with a wife and son that look up to you as Superman the man like I am suppose to be. It is hard to have time for me and what ills me. My son says I am suppose to be Superman, because he wants me to be. Ah hell, I gotta going to read my chapters for school, in between that I need to get a refill on my meds and find a job. Yes, I understand that one job goes and another job comes.

Wolf!...the she wolf limps in, just morning sore, tail wagging some.....Fight through the depression. You have before, you know how. You have to take care of yourself. You're no good for anyone else, untill you are good for yourself. Hope that makes sense. It's one of those things my Good Ma has always said that is true. GET the meds refilled! I wish I had the time to read now but I don't. I had made alot of time to recently, but that is at an end.I'll be missing alot of news everywhere. I have had to go back to work and it is crazier now, than it ever was before. And I don't know how long it will last. I can only stop in this morning, before I leave, and say Good Morning to everyone! I know I won't be able to post this afternoon at all. And I'm not sure if I'll even be able to be here for a Good Morning on Mon., Tues. or Wed. Hang in there Wolf! I'm worrying about you! And got you in my prayers. I'll be back around. You know I will! I miss everyone and hope to see everyone soon! I'm worried about the board moving on again too. Sigh....I'll probably miss it like I did the last time. But I can follow scent and sign and make it back to my pack if it does. Kim!!! Hope you are well Baby! Purrrrtricia, tell Nate I said welcome back! Got your cup Baby-Girl! Ms. Mod hang in there!!! I got to go clear out a bunch of junk out of my mail, and get gone! Hope to see y'all soon! Till then: (((((( Ka-Tet Mine! My Pack! Morning all... I see Sai John is back with us today. Welcome back Sai; your wit and wisdom were missed, although your many friends did their best to fill in.

Thank you for the pictures Kim... I didn't think you looked like an alien in those sunglasses :grinning: (possibly like you'd had recent eye surgery, though) unless you meant an American alien. And, if so, don't worry, I understand that the natives are quite friendly there. The pictures confirmed what I'd already guessed. You and the others are even lovelier than I imagined (yes, you too Sai) - and I imagined you all as quite lovely in the first place.

Mstay, I couldn't agree with you more... You are one of the people who make it such a pleasure to visit here.

(((((Motherwolf, Papawolf))))) Don't force me to do the Monty Python song about always looking on the bright side of life again... :biggrin2: I'll do it! Hope both of you are well or getting there. I've taught Oscar to make chocolate martinis and, if that is a little too "foo foo" for us today, I've brought tequila. There ain't nuthin' a li'l ole bout with the tequila won't cure... Even cold showers. Especially cold showers.

Be well tet-mates and have a safe and happy weekend. Do frivolous things and sleep late. Lady Pain, screw the house work... Be nice to you for a change.

Hi,

Have a great weekend everyone!!!

(Speaking from an internet cafe somewhere in the swamps of Glasgow's Wild West End, with the worst keyboard in the world).

Should be back online early next week (fingers crossed) - I hope everyone and their's are well. Daughter (Lisa) just moved back in as son and wife (David and Kareen) move into their new house to ready it for baby in August, so some domestic upheaval chez moi (I got to pay for both moves LOL).

Привет, Volic! Greetings to everyone else!

I hope you all are having a good day. The sun is out here, sort of, in between the clouds, but tomorrow is supposed to be really nice.

There's an inspection at work today. Some muckymuck from high up the ladder in the corporation is supposed to be showing up. You should hear what the manager calls him! I was called and I have to go into work early, so I am hoping this guy isn't the one who gets his jollies by firing people. Anyways, I poured my guts into getting my job done last night (well into the red zone) so I know my areas of responsiblity look good.

I'll hear all about it, I guess.

These corporate types seem to run in packs. We get lots of visits, and then nothing for months.

I think I'll just grab a coke and head out to finish cooking my early dinner/lunch.

Have a great weekend, and I'll see you all next week!

Have spent this week getting the plants hardened off so that hopefully when we plant them this weekend (assuming it doesn't rain all weekend long) they won't die as the night temperatures are still on the cool side. I'll need to come back to work to get a rest. :smile2:

Good Morning, Everyone!
Hope you all had a a great weekend, are feeling well, and are well connected at last. Gorgeous weather here, weekend was nice and quiet (except for going to the dentist but she's really very nice); my husband was a judge at San Francisco brewers' competition so it was just the dog, the cats and me.

Brought in some lovely dark chocolate from Switzerland and a pic of my brother Doug, his son Harry, me and my husband Jim:

We are trying, but I am finally getting my medicine.

Today I have been listening to the soundtrack of Okami videogame that tells different japanese legends and traditions like Cherry blossom (sakura) and the legend of the white wolf Amaterasu the godess of sun in a sumi-e brush technique. It has great japanese traditional music. The game itself is a piece of artwork about graphics and music developed by the creative division of Capcom, Clover Studio that was shut down in because making creative and beautiful games wasn't profitable. You know, today it's all about blood, girls and cars and art is for museums while artists live in the streets.

Anyway, Life is short, Art is long! And for the ones that love to listen to World Music here you can download this great OST for free... yeah it's safe!, no virus problems, don't worry!

Disc 4: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=K5MJI2RM
Disc 5: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=QRUORFK6

And a large coffee for the rest of my evening!

...and it was delicious! A little brie for a perfect snack. Anyone else in the cantina a cheese lover??

My family loves cheese. Even the one year old:biggrin2:

Oh yes, Eleese, cheese reigns supreme here. I'd rather eat cheese than meat, and I have at times classed myself as a meatetarian to p*ss off a scrawny, gassy vegan I used to work with...

Most types. I don't care for the cheeses with visible molds or rinds. I don't mind strong flavoured ones, but the green and blue stuff can stay in the deli!

*grabs a cranberry juice out of the fridge*

I have to run. Today is my day off. I was supposed to have three in a row, but it has been shortened to two and I have too much to do today and tomorrow. I thought days off meant I could rest...

Hi All.

*timidly pokes head in door*

Am I still welcome even though I haven't checked in here in about 2 wks?

I have been so incredibly busy, I have 112 hrs in this 2-wk pay period. With work and home and kids and doing it all single-like its been a crazy life. I have thought about you all but don't seem to get the time to get in here. Work has been picking up alot because the weather is so nice so there are so many more people on the roads being super-stupid and keeping my troopers busy.

Anyway...I am sorry I haven't been here but I did bring some soft brownies (regular kind ;) ) for you all.

Thanks! :D

Of course you're welcome here, dragonangel! Thanks for the brownies.

Thanks for bringing me my tea and muffin - you guys are the best! I'm feeling better, might even go to work Wednesday and Thursday, before flying home to Denmark on Friday. I can't wait to see my little nephew again. He's gotten so big! I was on line with my brother and the family today and they turned on the webcam so I could watch little Ian crawl!! It was so sweet :smile2:

Here's a couple of pics of my nephew Ian - isn't he just the cutest thing!

Just cruising by for some low-flying caffeine.
I would stop by this place a lot more often if it allowed after-hours posting. If I come too early or too late, it's a no-go, and with my crazy work schedule, I can't always drop by during regular hours.
Shame, too. I miss you guys.
Anyway, true to form, I'm off to work. Again.
