I quote fron Stephen's book " Dance Macabre " ---- "The box I found was a treasure-trove of Avon paperbacks. The pick of the litter was an H P Lovecraft collection. I an no longer sure of the title , but I rememder the illustration on the cover very well: a cemetary at night , and emerging from a tombstone a loathsome green thing with long fangs and burning red eyes. That remains the one that sums up H.P.L's works for me . I have no idea who the artist was."

The title of this Avon paperback , a collection of Lovecraft's stories , is "The Lurking Fear" , and it cab be viewed, purchased via the "E- Bay" auction .

I lost one of my favorite collections--Cthulhu--The Mythos and Kindred Horrors (http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/751823.Cthulhu_The_Mythos_and_Kindred_Horrors) by Robert E. Howard (creator of Conan and good friend to Lovecraft)--on a dark and rainy night at a bowling alley. Been wondering for years where that damn thing went!
