Hi, I have some questions about Mr. King:

1) has he ever done or considered doing martial arts?
2) has he ever had a fight?
3) will he ever write something fast-paced like The Running Man again?
4) would he ever consider writing a prequel to The Shining? I know he's done a sequel, but, for me, The Shining was all about the Overlook. Can't they rebuild the Overlook, as an alternative to a prequel?

That's a good question,I wondered when I read the short story Nona, and the novel Under the Dome, his descriptions of the fights the main characters had with locals,if Mr K had run ins with somebody as a young man and used his experiences as background inspiration for stories..

In short:
1) has he ever done or considered doing martial arts? Yes, He is a fully trained master ninja, studied under the one and only Master Splinter.

2) has he ever had a fight? Only when necessary, such as when he was summoned to put an unruly Chuck Norris in his place.

3) will he ever write something fast-paced like The Running Man again? Only if you can defeat him in a hand-to-hand combat style cage match.

4) would he ever consider writing a prequel to The Shining? Same answer as number #3.

Have you read the official 'prologue' that was originally published in Whispers magazine and then later in an edited version in TV Guide when the miniseries was broadcast? If not, then you have to search for a copy somewhere, usually there's some on Ebay. That should whet your appetite for more of the Overlook! It's a really good snippet of the story, gives you abit more of the hotel's (and Jack's) background. Good luck!

Oh my GNTLGN! I agree that 11/22/63 was fast paced too but not as action filled as my friend says the running man is.

No need, Marhsa - I talked to Steve about it this morning. He said, "Yes" to all of the above. He also told me that he took martial arts lessons from a real-life ninja, and worked as an assassin for the government during the Vietnam war. I asked if he'd show me his ninja mask, but he said the only time he wears it is when he's "working," and that if you ever saw him wearing the mask, it means you're dead meat.

You're welcome.
