I think I had already mentioned my sister's new bookstore that opened recently in downtown Pittsburgh, but I couldn't find which thread it was on. Anyway, today the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette ran a nice article on her bookstore. Yes, they do carry Stephen King books (I told them to keep an eye out for signed copies!)
I just thought it was nice to hear about a bookstore actually opening instead of closing these days, and also I wanted to extend an open invitation to Mr. King, if he is ever in Pittsburgh on business and wants to drop by, they really do have a great selection of books and he might be able to slip under the radar for a while and just enjoy browsing. There's also a cool comics museum a few doors down.

Great news this is! We need all the bookstores we can get in this world. And it wouldn't hurt kids to actually read a newspaper once in a while either.
Good luck to your sister!

Good luck to your sister. It's a tough game out there now with society's fascination with these horrid gadgets and e-books.
A used book store opened up here recently and it seems to be thriving. They continue to expand in spite of all these "Kindles" and such.

That's so exciting! Best of luck to her.
We don't have a good used bookstore in my area. Or a laundromat. Not that they're related, but those are the two things I wish I had closer to home. Well, and a Taco John's, but other than that we're pretty well set.

Congrats to your sister!! Best wishes to her for many years of success! I hope she comes across a signed copy of anything King, and gives it to me for Christmas. Wait, did I say me? Oops, I meant you. Yeah, I hope she gives it to you...:oo:

Thanks for all the well-wishes! It's also nice for me to have a place where I can donate my used books and know I'm helping them out, although they'll have to pry my Stephen King books out of my cold dead hands!

My sister's bookstore is running into some challenges, but we're trying to do something about it to keep the store going. Please PM me if you're interested in the details--Don't be shy, I won't bite!

...my hometwon bookstores have failed, and I hate for another to disappear...some of my happiest moments were spent perusing the selections, and those like your sister's are a last bastion against ignorance of the paper & glue type of reading material...my prayers are with her...
