Rereading "Wolves of the Calla", and just happened on a National Geographic special called "Mengele's Twin Mystery". From the blurb: "Deep in the Brazilian outback lies a tiny town. Among a community of 80 or so families in a one and a half square mile area, there are reportedly some 38 pairs of twins. Blond-haired, blue-eyed twins.Whispered rumours have circulated in the area for years. Stories of a man with a mobile laboratory, collecting blood samples, conducting experiments on the town’s women. Experiments, some locals say, may have involved injections, pills, new types of drugs and even artificial insemination."

Are you sure this wasn't from a magazine like Playboy? I'll close the door on my way out.

Has this already aired? I browsed the Natl Geographic site for a while, but couldn't find a date or a time. It's not listed in my satellite guide that I could find, either.
