Does anyone know how much, if any, of the final chapter of DT 6 actually came from King's journal? I know that there is some truth to some of it, but obviously he did not actually die in the accident.

It wasn't 100% verbatim but there was a lot of truth in what made it into the story, e.g. I know the letter from the prisoner was true as I'm the one who passed it on to Steve.

I was especially curious if he really dreamt about 6/19/99 before it happened. Also the articles on walk-ins

I used to live near a State Mental Hospital(yeah, laff it up-"they shoulda recruited ya dude!"), and we often had "walk-ins" show up in our blackberry patch...

People would just show up in your blackberry patch?

I thought this section was genius! I was curious as to whether or not it was made up for the ending or DT6 or if it genuinely came from King's real journal.

Part of it was taken directly from his personal journal. Which part :zip:

This was one of my favorite parts of book six. Actually his entire presence in the series just about blew me away. I know some didn't like it because it somehow spoiled the fiction for them; but I thought it was brilliant. The scene where he comes around the corner of his house and sees Roland for the first time and instantly recognizes him as his creation was doubly brilliant. It always struck me as a comment on how a person's work could help them pull through a difficult time.
And may you have twice the number.
