I just finished my journey with Roland, say thankya.

I am not truly sure how I feel about it to be honest. It makes sense that he starts all over again, ka being a wheel and all, but I almost wished I hadn't read the final pages... Sai King warned me, but, i went on, as probably 100% of the constant readers did.

I wish that what Roland found in that final room was a reunion with Jake, Eddie, Susannah, and Oy! They could palaver a bit, then all of them could go through a final door to wherever (maybe heaven), the door would close.. the end. But, alas, that is not what happened.

I've been like a rabid dog reading these novels for the past few weeks. I've always been a SK fanatic, but for some reason was never interested in reading the DT novels... Well, I'd exhausted all the other novels by SK, then figured, why not. I'm glad I did too, because it was neat to see all the correlations to the other novels (now I want to re-read them too to see what I might have missed). I LOVED them all - never wanted them to end. But they did, and it was a bitter pill to swallow.

Now, I'm going to re-read the DT series again. What the hell, if Roland has to start all over, I guess I will too! I'd like some feedback from you guys and gals though! Should I get the comics? What about the concordance? Also, is there anything else out there I'll need that might make my repeat journey more satisfying? (that's not really the right word, but i think you know what i mean). I am now an official Dark Tower junkie. I want the full effects of this strange drug! WOW! Maybe another book will come out where they go back and get SK to churn out another novel where Roland gets to stay in the top room with all his wonderfully amazing friends this time... that would make me BIG BIG happy :smile2:

So tickled that you enjoyed it...and a big YEP to getting the Concordance and graphic novel series...it will add much more "texture" to your already flavorful journey's...

I wish I could say that I have finished reading them all and couldn't wait to start all over again...

Some good news for you, DT VIII is on the way... I think some time in 2012, you can check the latest news on stephenking.com to be sure.

Best

yes DT might be the best of SK's inspiring (??yup!!)and imaginative, not to mention SCAREY of all his books. It triggered many a dream walking across the desert, empty canteen dangling off the shoulder... heh heh heh. My imagination really went into overdrive as I helped Roland & Jake ride on the hand car..yeah I felt like I was right there too. Few storys have captured me so much as SK's DT series. Some others also caught my attention-Insominnia,Duma Key & Liseys Story. I enjoyed most of the rest but these mentioned really stand out for me. It was a real AH HA moment when Roland reached the tower, & I read faster & faster to help him up the stairs! lol

Hi,

Welcome to the MB, and keep posting!

Glad it had such an eff3ct on you.

Yes, definitely get the Robin Furth's Concordance(s) and also Bev Vincent's The Road to the Dark Tower (try Amazon).

Personaly, I'd read ALL the connected books again, like Everything's Eventual , with The Little Sisteres of Eluria in it as well as Dinky's backstory, Low Men in Yellow Coats in Hearts in Atlantis for Ted Brautigan's backstory, Salem's Lot for Calkahans, and The Talisman/Black House etc.

Then I'd reread DT.

Good reading ( it certainly is!).

Long days and pleasant nights

For sure about the dreams. Just last night I dreamed I was on some sort of journey and i had holed up in an old trailer home along the way, I was trying to secure the doors and windows, before the low men showed up (and of course everything i was trying to do with closing off the door would not work and the door kept falling off)... well, i turned around and there was this western looking vampire man crouched in the corner laughing at me - HE HAD GOTTEN IN! I grabbed him around the neck and started screaming with all the authority in my body - "I am from the clan of the PAXTON'S do you know the name OTIS PAXTON!?!" (my grandpa) and he starting withering and shrinking finally into a big dusty dead thing... I woke up... I dreamed this for real! My, my my... Anyways, I wanted to say, yes, now my dreams are making me a gunslinger (well i don't think i had a gun) but you know, kind of a gunslinger anyways. CREEPY!

THANKS! I'll definitely get those right away.

It's so weird how I feel now that I finished the series... Almost depressed. I'm trying to read Weaveworld by Clive Barker, but it just isn't the same type of alternate dimensions/fantasy as the DT. I mostly got it because it has a recommendation on the back of it by sai King...
