I heard somewhere that they would be doing a sequel to this wonderful book, but I don't know if it was just a dream. I heard it had to with Danny like 40 years later, is this real or am I just crazy??:eyebrow:

Steve has mentioned this before. The title he has come up with for a sequel is Dr. Sleep.

"Dr. Sleep"...now there's uncharted waters for him to sail...with that kind of name, he could merchandise bedding, mattresses, sleepwear-hell, he could even use a little stuffed crow or St. Bernard, ala the Sealy sheep...It's a marketing stroke of genius I tell Ya!!!

The story reportedly centered on Danny, 40 years later and working in a hospice facility to help patients pass peacefully. The Shining is probably my favorite SK novel, and I don't know that it needs a sequel but I know if King writes one I will absolutely buy it and certainly will enjoy it.

Are there any new updates about this? At one time King had it up for a vote on the site between this and another Tower installment. Even though The Shining sequel narrowly won more votes, it seems King is moving forward with his Tower book instead. But he did say that the votes meant nothing if the muse didn't call him, so it seems the muse really wanted another Tower novel.

But where is Dr. Sleep now? Is that still something we might see soon?

He'll write it when the time is right--when that time is I can't say.

I can't wait, I loved The Sixth Sense, I'm anxious to know Stephen's POV on the matter (not that Danny's powers is limited to speak with ghosts).
