Hey. I haven't been on here for awhile but please don't consider me a hypocrite for crawling back to you all when I need help! :grinning:

I was aware that Stephen had branched into comics and had briefly researched it. My immediate response was that seemed rather costly at the time and I didn't (Still don't) know much about comics so I opted to steer clear for the time being. I then forgot about it altogether.

However, I was browsing in my city center this afternoon and came across a comic book shop. I spotted a copy of "American Vampire" in the window and went in to ask more. He grabbed the copy from the window and showed it to me. It was a hard back (not how you would imagine your typical comic) and looked more like a book but had the comic inside. The cover was like this:

It was again quite expensive (although very impressive!) and he also showed me some copy of "The Stand" that were in the same style. I decided that before spending a load of cash straight away, i'd browse ebay to compare prices. When I did so, I got results like this

http://thumbs1.ebaystatic.com/m/mdtx23BEq1Iv-2A0aoMriCA/140.jpg (http://shop.ebay.co.uk/i.html?_nkw=stephen+king+comics+american+vampire&_sacat=0&_sop=3&_dmpt=UK_Books_Comics_Magazines_US_Comics_ET&_odkw=stephen+king+comics&_osacat=0&_trksid=p3286.c0.m270.l1313#)AMERICAN VAMPIRE #7 VERTIGO COMICS (6 STEPHEN KING) (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/AMERICAN-VAMPIRE-7-VERTIGO-COMICS-6-STEPHEN-KING-/400149455156?pt=UK_Books_Comics_Magazines_US_Comics_ET&hash=item5d2ac42134)

And Similar for "The Stand".

What I don't understand is the differences? There was also a copy of "N" in the shop and a copy on ebay with the exact same cover...but a BIG price difference between the two. Im Confused SKMB'ers!

What should I be purchasing here??

Sorry If that was quite long winded, I just wanted to make sure I was clear on details. If I haven't been clear, just ask :grinning:.

Thanks

Just an FYI... Stephen only directly contributed to the first several issues of American Vampire. The Vertigo team has been carrying on the good work since then.

To answer the question that's in your mind: those cheap listings that say, for example American Vampire #6 or A. V. #7 for 1.00 are the monthly issues that look like regular comic books. After the regular comics are published, they'll collect six issues (or however-many) together and publish them in book form. To find that format, look for auctions that say TPB (trade paperback) or HC (hard cover). GN for graphic novel might also come into play.

We all float down here.

Thankyou both. Especially for the heads up on SK only contributing to a certain amount of American Vampire. I think I'm definatley after "The Stand" editions to start with :grinning:

It sounds like im best to buy them at the comic shop...theres similar ones on Ebay but there of the same price, so i'll be best just buying and knowing what im getting. As a student, £20 for these is quite expensive, but I know they'll be worth it so i'll just buy them every now and then until I have them all!

You're going about it in the right way...collect as you can, when you can-the stories are timeless, they'll always be there for you...

If I were you I'd find out when the books are coming out and buy them at the reg. comic prices, the longer you wait the more you'll pay .If your considering HC you pay alot more because your getting more issues and HC is always more expensive .

I buy the HC as I don"t have to make so many trips to the comic shop.LOL
