I am having a hard time finding hard covers of Carrie, Salem's Lot, The Shining and Thinner. I really don't want to join a book club to get them. Any suggestions on good reputable used book websites? Any tips would really be appreciated!

Try this: Antiquarian Booksellers' Association of America (http://www.abaa.org/) They have Thinner in hardback at a reasonable price. Salem's Lot copies start at $175 and go from there... Good luck, and bring your VISA.

Have you tried abebooks.com? They tap into bookstores all around the world and give you the info on your title (physical shape, cost of books and location of the store). Then you select.

Finding hardcovers in good condition and at reasonable prices is not an easy road to travel. I was lucky enough to find the Book of the Month Club's editions of 'Salem's Lot and Carrie, but I don't believe those are considered to be true first editions ... if that's one of your criteria. I found Thinner in hardcover at a thrift store for $1. Good luck!

I got a lot of mine through hunting yard sales and Goodwills b/c there are no more used book stores around my area. Last week I went to the Goodwill in Austintown OH and they had Bag of Bones, Under the Dome, Thinner, Green Mile, Just After Sunset, Skeleton Crew, and Lisey's Story all hardback for $2 each. I wish I could've got 'em all lol.

Hey JBJ, I've been with the Stephen King Book Club for many years(and no this ain't no paid endorsement)and they have all the backstock in hardcover-with what I think is a pretty decent bottom line-plus, you get all the new releases when available...(maybe they'll toss me a cookie now)

I have picked up some of the early hardcovers in used bookshops. A couple years ago I got a first edition Salem's Lot for $3. Yes, three dollars.

I second Haunted's recommendation. I've used abebooks.com in the past and was completely satisfied with the selection to choose from as well as the buying experience itself.

Thanks everyone! I have my name on a waiting list at quite a few used book stores! I am going to check out Abe books, but I really don't want to spend a fortune on these books!

I have bought a few books at Alibris, but it's hard to find those first novels in HC anywhere like that.
