Do you think Duddits was from somewhere close to the other alien race that wanted to take over earth? Why would he care what happens here anyway? Any thoughts?

Thats the idea presented in the movie. In the book, dudditz is some sort of human psychic adept.

I liked the movie version of Duddits.

If you haven't seen it, you won't know what I mean, so I'm not even going to drop a SPOILER.

Damnit!! I fell for it.

I hated the movie version, of well, everything and everyone for this story.
Great book though!

Duddits is another in a long line of sensitively drawn and fleshed out King "oddballs" who have some type of extraordinary gift...I always look at folks like Duddits, Carrie White, the Firestarter. etc. as more than our equals. I look past the so-called disadvantages and see the real hand of God at work...they, and others like them are to be respected and not pitied or reviled.(Whew, that took real effort to be sincere that long, but I did it!):biggrin2:

I didn't ask the question but thanks to all cuz I am reading the book and I have read several chapters over because of the confusion and everyone here has cleared up alot of my confusion!

Dreamcatcher - Book good, movie ok. Duddits character in the movie ok until the end. :oo:

Yeah the movie leads you to believe that Duds is from space as well. NOT an idea from the book. I don't know WHERE the movie was going, but the ending in the book is a MILLION times more realistic and better. Duds rocks my socks!

In the film, Duddits was a kind of 'saviour' - the fixer to the problem. In the book, he came across more as an 'enabler' - enabling the whole Mr Grey thing as well as enabling his 'demise'. So obviously, I thought the book was far better in that respect at least, as well as other areas.
