Just re-reasding DK, and I find this on p. 64, Edgar on the phone with his estranged wife: "Still here," I said. And with dark red half moons in the palms of my hands, from clenching my fists."

Has anybody else noticed this? Did SK forget that Edgar only has one hand at this point?

There were a few of those continuity errors that slipped by the first editors and proofreaders and made it into the print edition.

I got that, I just used my imagination and associated it with likes of phantom pain and all mentally fun things that go with it.
A few years back I got my upper front teeth bashed out, but I still "bite" my lip and occasionally try for a juicy fingernail...outta see me try and tackle an apple the split second before I get remembered, oh it's a hoot:wow:.
:oo:
(why yes, yes I did say get remembered:biggrin2:)

I noticed this while reading but reasoned it was possibly a phenomenon similar to phantom limb syndrome.

I figured Edgar probably saw the imprints in his actual visible hand and his mind just believed it was the same on the other hand. The mind is a strange tool, and if a person who loses a limb can still feel it's presence, what's to stop them "seeing" it occassionially? Since Edgar had suffered a brain injury this explanation--of mine--made sense to me.
But I'm nuts!:oh:

Don't be hatin!

Seriously, its just a typo. In fact, I'm almost pleased when I find one, I found something at least 10 professionals missed.

I, also took pause, but then thought this is part of the phantom limb syndrome Edgar was suffering. And he was not alone, eh?

Gotta say I missed that the first time through, but then every time I get a new SK novel-I race through it like a squirrel on crack, coz I'm so danged excited to have a new one! It's time for a more tepid pace and re-read, I'll see if my age spotted eyes can get it this time.

Pick some reputable Members here. Have them sign a NDA. Let them help avoid some embare ass mints.

The Professionals are obviously too wrapped up in work to catch the shrubs for the forests in the trees.

There are some Hubble-eyed readers here that would gig for free. I'm not one of them.

I tried to think of Edgar as the narrator, so when I read those slip ups, I thought of it as Edgars' mistake. Idk if I'm the only one who saw it like that... And also as pointed out above, it could be a phantom limb thing too.
