What a great book… On Writing. I wrote a novel, bought a book on how to get published, and then I bought this book. As you can tell, I’m a funny guy. Maybe I’m just another idiot, but I do have a great idea for a book.

I could really relate to the part of the book where he said a large segment of the population thinks fiction is somehow immoral. I’ve always felt a little like I’m buying porn when I ended up with a fiction book. This book has set me free. I now can read fiction without guilt, and I can write for the pure enjoyment that comes from spinning a tale. I expected to find the book On Writing in the reference section, but it’s in the horror section. After I got over my embarrassment for being there, I found the book and I’m a changed person. Maybe it should have been in the self help area.

I’ve read several Stephen King books, and I’m reading as much fiction as I can get my hands on. I wasn’t even embarrassed when I was caught with tears in my eyes finishing Hemingway’s The Old Man and the Sea. I’m going to rewrite my book, for my wife, not as a factoid lame intellectual piece of crap, but rather as a character driven story full of conflict. Thank you.

Totally agree, great book and a total inspiration if you are a writer.

I also noticed it was in a strange place in the B&N where I got my copy.

It wasn't horror, but rather "Reference". This doesn't seem at first glance to be a bad spot for it, except that next to this area is a section titled "Writing". Seems it would belong there instead. I actually looked there first thinking that had to be it. I had to go ask for help to locate the book.
