My parents got me the hardcover Dutton printing of The Regulators for Christmas back in '08, but I just catching up on what I had to read before getting around to this book... I opened it up earlier today, and it starts mid-sentence, with the page number on top displaying 33: "house, with the Frisbee in his mouth and his tail waving back and forth slowly. His grin appears to widen." Then is proceeds on to the next paragraph. Confused, I flipped through some pages, and this was apparently part of chapter 1 (I think)... The chapter ends on page 39, the next page is a newspaper clipping titled "Members Of Toledo Family Slain In San Jose". Then I am greeted with chapter 2 on a page with an unlisted number, which is 43. This chapter ends on page 59, then there's another page with a newspaper clipping entitled "The Regulators". From there I go to chapter 3, starting with 1. Poplar Street/3:58 P.M./July 15, 1996. The page number behind this page is 64, starting with: "Thunder rumbles, closer and sharper now." The page next to this one is a repeat of the beginning of my printing, page 33 and beginning identically mid-sentence. It goes back to chapter 2 AGAIN, and from there on it appears the rest of the book is printed as it should be.

Sorry if I went into too much detail about this, but it's frustrating me because I apparently don't have 32 pages of the first chapter! Then I get tossed around a bit before the book continues with it's natural progression. Has anyone else seen this mis-print? Most unfortunately, I can't exchange it for another book, as it's been far too long, so I must go buy another... Sigh...
