As someone who has great interest in theorizing minute details, here are some questions on the book.....

-Can we safely assume that some bank or corporation owns the majority of the land and residences in Salem's Lot, largely on account of property taxes or mortgages going unpaid for several years?

-Can we assume that most or all of the homes and businesses remaining in Salem's Lot have long since had their power disconnected?

-You remember after the events of Salem's Lot, there were still people buying and moving into homes in Salem's Lot for about six months to a year afterwards. Would this have still been occuring 5-10 years later or if someone had interest in living in Salem's Lot for some reason, would they even be allowed the opportunity to legally reside there?

-If someone very familiar with the history of Salem's Lot (i.e. vampires), such as Ben Mears for example, decided to move there permanently, how safe could they be? This is asked because if a person moved into a home that was free of vampires, would any vampires who had previously received invitations still be able to get in? If not, one could figure that a person might have trouble sleeping on account of "noise" and the occasional attempt to receive an invitation in. But if a resident doesn't go outside after dark, then theoretically they are safe, right?

I'm not sure about that. I know that after one invitation a vampire can come and go at will (unless you rescind your invitation) but I'm not sure if that would apply if someone new came into the house. After all, it's now someone else's home. I think the laws would apply anew for them. That assumes of course that no vampires took up residency when the house was vacant and aren't sleeping under the floorboards of the new residents. Then I think they've got a loophole... Brrrrr!

As long as you keep all curtains drawn when it's dark and take no notice of any tapping or scratching on the panes. They can mesmerise you with their eyes after all. Even then you wouldn't be truly safe. They might not be able to feed on you but they could lob a petrol bomb through your window, if they had the brains for that. They could also use their human converts (i.e. those who aren't yet changed but are in the process.) against you.
