Forgive me and my minutiae... (minor spoiler for newbies to the series)

Second time through the series for me. SOS was my least favorite book the first time through. I'm sure that was true for many since it is in this book that SK decides he must be a significant part of the story. Man, did I hate that the first time. Second time through it is only slightly more tolerable to me because I know where he is headed. Having said all that I am enjoying this book much more the second time through.

Now for a question...

Did anyone else notice this?

When Jake and Pere Callahan were stashing Black 13 into storage in the WTC, they had to go through a metal detector. SK made a point of mentioning that the orizas did not set off the detectors, but what about the ruger he was carrying? And now that I think about it, why didn't the orizas set it off too. They are metallic are they not? I have an idea what the answer will be, but was curious what you all thought.

I don't remember about the gun, but orizas are polished, honed ceramic...or something close to that.

Like someone else recently intimated, they are just basic kitchen plates with a much different purpose.

I'm sure Steve racks his brain about these little things (& has his peepholes racking theirs also)
Then when it comes up finally after it's out & printed for a number of years.
