I remember a while back I heard that George Romero was making a film adapation of The Girl That Loved Tom Gordon, and that it was a "go, etc." But yet there hasn't been any release, or talk of it since then. Does anyone know anything about a movie version?

I don't think George Romero currently owns the rights. There have been several false starts but it's on the back burner at the moment.

I love the book. It's actually one of my favorites. But I don't think it would make a very good movie. Most the story's conflict is internal. A movie of a little girl walking through the woods for an hour just wouldn't work.

The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon is very capable of being a great movie, especially due to its length- the book, I mean; but there are certain psychological aspects that might be hard to make into the movie.

I think it would be possible, but knowing Hollywood, they'd butcher it in some stupid way. At the very least, a movie for this would be better then a movie for The Colorado Kid, lol.

But besides that, it was an ok book. My only problem with it is the main character: an 8 or 9 year old girl (I forget which). Though there's not much characters to choose from, I think I like her dad the most, just because of the flashback when they were talking about religion.
