I always get a kick out of it when, it random, unrelated situations, something SK'esque comes out of the woodwork. I am a labor and delivery nurse. The other night at work, I was taking a baby to the nursery, and happened to notice on the crib card that his name was Malaki (their spelling). I immediately got creeped out (you know, when your spine momentarily jumps into your liver and that tingly, kind of nice wave of nausea swims over your arms...) and said out loud, "OMG, this kid is named Malaki?!?!" One of my coworkers blurted out, "Like Children of the Corn..."
Freakin' sweet. We talked about SK for an hour after that...

that is so something I would do! I usually see people who look like people from cult horror movies and try to tell someone and no one knows who i'm talking about! It's good that you too got to have a SK convo afterwards, I always love that!

Thats too wierd! Who the hell would do that to their kid? Its cool that you found a fellow SK fan.

I have never heard the name Maliki except in Children Of The Corn Unusual I like it though.

Very funny situation indeed! As someone said before, it's not a common name, so I guess my impression about it wouldn't be different. Congratulations on not dropping the baby anyways!

Have anyone seen the Blu Ray version of the movie? I have, and believe me, please try to keep your memories with the old VHS version. High Def is not making here any good to it :)

That's an odd name to give a baby, the parents must have been "corn" fans. Did a little research on the name and here is what I came up with:

Malaki \m(a)-la-ki\ as a boy's name is a variant of Malachi (Hebrew), and the meaning of Malaki is "messenger of God".

We live by huge corn fields so I am always bringing up Children of the Corn. But nobody local to share my love of all things King. (hear sad violin music playing....) that's why I am so happy to be able to just rattle away with all the King Love right here.

Because although I may skip around the house when a new book is being released, I assure you no one here cares. So sad really. I'm working on getting my 11-year-old enthralled, though.
