Name of Short Story Collection

Hi everyone,

I am tired of racking my brain (and obviously performing poor www. searches) and hope you guys might be able to help in naming a book and Stephen's short story in it. The book was a collection of horror stories by various writers, including Steve who wrote the intro I'm pretty sure. I can remember two of the other authors' stories - one was about a child who discovers his parents are actually monsters who keep their 'human' faces on wigstands by their bed. The other was about a man who inherits a house, which is full of transparent furniture who soon discovers the shadows are haunted by a monster (hence the need for shadowless furniture). I really hope someone can help me here, I'm really keen to find this book again.

I have a feeling that you might be thinking of the horror compilation "Dark Forces", which contained an early version of SKs "The Mist" and was released in 1980.

I had this book once upon a long ago, but like most of the really good things that I've acquired throughout my life, it has got lost somewhere along the way.

Thanks for your reply. I had thought it was published a lot later than that - I bought the book in the 90s and I'm pretty sure it was a hardback, new release. Although if you remember those other stories I described, then it must be that one. Could it have been re-released that late? Perhaps not hardback though?
Like you mine has disappeared (along with my memory) somewhere along the way and I really wish I hadn't let it go!
