I'm planning on Diving into the first 2 DT books VERY soon! But I would like to make sure I've gotten through all (or at least those recommended) the connection books for these two. Help? Thanks. :grinning:

they're all connected, JRM, all! someone else probably already posted the real connections. i'd read them when you have time, read them again when you have time, you'll find connections that others may have missed, or you missed reading about. enjoy the ride. i know i did. lookin forward to another read soon, some snowy tuesday when the world's quiet and the only noise is the hum in the basement from the furnace. :y:

I read DTI/II/III/IV without ever paying attention to the "connection" books. There's always time to read them.
You've got to read Insomnia and the Talisman/Black House and Salem's Lot and the Stand (maybe) and the Little Sisters of Eluria and so many more... I can't remember them all!

I think The Stand needs to be read before book III, but that's just my opinnion

I doubt it would add anything at all to your enjoyment, and it certainly won't make anything easier to understand.

Call me silly, but when I started reading S.K.s Dark Tower I started at the begining. I was never patiant about his books, so I read the books between as they came out. Then would devour the next DT so I don't think I missed too many connections, but I was'nt looking for them so they always surpised and amazed me. Therefore making the read that much more enjoyable. ( As if I had needed another reason to love reading stuff by our favorite author! )

This is the best fiction book ever written. you won't have to read anything else beforehand to enjoy it immensely.

I would argue for "The Stand" first, maybe "Eye's of the Dragon"-but you don't need it-just grab your gunna and hop on in...
