I'm not sure if this news has popped up else where on the board...Cemetery Dance Publications is offering 3 slipcases/ tray cases for UTD. Myself and others have expressed our disappointment with Scribner for not including a case for the Signed Editions that were sold. In addition, I was fortunate enough to get my hands on a signed book in New York this past Tuesday, and a protective case sounds like a good idea to me.
According to the email I received, 3 versions are being offered. One for the trade hardcover, one for the collector's edition, and a tray case for the signed limited edition. They say that these cases are being custom made and reservations will be accepted for 2 weeks, with only enough made to fill the orders. Website is www.cemeterydance.com. They ain't cheap...prices are $24.95...$29.95...and $49.95, but the extra expense might be worth it to preserve a signed copy of the book.
I'm wondering what Mr. King and the publisher think about all this?

Tomas, of TheStephenKingCollector.com is also offering a slipcase. See:

Unlike Cemetary Dance, he will not charge you until the slipcase ships. And his quality is very, very good on all the other slipcases he's offered.

I was under the impression that the collectors set automatically came with a case?

That's the way the announcement from Simon & Schuster read, but what they meant was the the front board (case) was stamped (with a picture of a dog.) No slipcase.

A lot of people were. I haven't received mine yet, but according to others, they don't. Apparently there was some miscommunication between publishers and readers as to what "stamped case" meant.

I thought that CD was having problems with cases.

Yes...they are notorious for charging your card immediately, and shipping someday. The order arrives, but not fast. Thanks for the info!!

He's still in the process of seeing how many people want one. He'll make an announcement with the full details (price, how to order, etc.) in a little while. I purchased a traycase for my limited edition of Salem's Lot and a traycase for the original Stand from him and have been VERY happy with his products. Tomas puts out a quality item.
