Hi everyone,

I am doing a masters degree in publishing and as part of my course I have to do a 10 minute presentation on a book's journey to publication, the launch and the critical reception. I (naturally) chose Under the Dome as my case study. The angle I am taking for the presentation is how the production, launch, publicity and reviews differed in the US and the UK.

With that in mind any info about how the book was launched, how it looks in the shop, how much it is selling for, any appearances of King. I have already been hunting around the shops in the UK and have seen what the publishers did here in London. I am planning to compare the UK and the US and try and find out why the decisions were made in certain ways etc. Anything at all would really help my presentation!

Thank you and I can't wait to hear back from you all,

Best wishes,

Tina xxxx

I signed up for the pre-sale at Amazon. Because it was NY times Bestseller (gulp) Igot it from the for $9.99 (US dollars).

I bought the signed (banded cover) limited edition from Scribner (I think this was like 200-250$). this had to be bought a month to a few months before release.

I attended his first public meeting on UTD at the NY Times Center in NYC where he was interviewed and there was a giveawy of signed books (u had to pick form a basket of cards). like 250 books and I think 300-400 people at the event. So Me and the wife picked true, and bought the books at list price with a little discount (around 30-35$)

Look on Stephen king .com and in the multimedia section yu cna see some of his signings -6 parts to the times signing.

g luck with your project Tina!!!

Hi im from Essex in the UK, erm the book cost about £10-£12 when it was released most stores released it with money off stickers attached to it, like £10 off, thats who it happened in waterstones. In most stores it went straight in at number one in the book charts, I dont think they did much here in Essex concerning marketing other than a few tv Ads for WHSMITHS around christmas but it wasnt a designated AD for it specifically just to show what offers they had on the same basically the same as the waterstones store as like £10 off or something like %50 off. He didnt do any book signings here very rarely does he ever come here to the UK.
Hopes thats ok!
