Did he ever write it?

Some years ago Stephen King indicated he was working on a novel which dealt with three Americans who were captives of the Mexican army. Two of the three captives were going to be executed, but they had to decide who
would die. If he ever wrote the book, I missed it.

Doesn't ring any bells with me. I've never seen any manuscript that had that plot.
