What's the general consensus around the board of sai King writing himself into his amazing epic?

When I discovered him as a character in the new books, 5, 6, and 7, I thought it was amazing. My wife says it reeks of narcissism, but she hasn't read the series.

Strange, at first, but I feel like the more you think about it, the more sense it makes. And also, I think it gives us constant readers a dip into what sai King was actually going through, to write his 30+ year epic. Through his character we see his struggle between the years, and his itch and struggle to finish his masterpiece.

I don't know... what do you think?

The illustration on the DT7 dedication page is priceless, and I definitely appreciated having the final book dedicated to ME! ha

i loved it. absolutely thought it was fantastic. i don't think it's narcissism when he's often making fun of himself in it, which i thought was quite sweet and funny. inserting himself introduced another element to the story and i think enhanced the whole theme of these obsessions we get ourselves stuck on - roland's got the tower, eddie's got his drugs he's still fighting off, mordred's got roland, sk has the novels themselves - that kind of thing.

I thought it was cocky and brave - writing yourself down as having an accident and killing yourself in it shortly after almost dying in one. I mean - writing your own death article is pretty horrid, but then again - I wouldn't have expected anything less...

I don't think I have ever been so amazed about something I have read before. I can remember being so frustrated that I didn't know anyone else that had read the book or the series that I could talk to & say OMG, that was bloody brilliant! (Obviously I hadn't found this site or even thought about going online about it)

That was the one part of the series I did not care for. Ka = Stephen King.
