Have you heard of a musical to Carrie. I found a dvd of it on www.ioffer.com for $10 and was wondering if it was worth getting.

I think it lasted one night before it closed on Broadway. Not sure if that's the same one being offered.

There have been reports (http://www.newyorktheatreguide.com/news/ot09/carrie555463.htm) that a group is revising the musical script and plans to put it on Broadway again.

The heard the music, and saw some videos, it's awful!
The music was so out of character for the characters we read about.
This musical was written after FAME the musical, so that should tell you
something. I wouldn't recommend it, you could prob. watch it somewhere
online for free, save your money!

You know it sounds like it could work if it's done right... but there's a million ways to ruin a good idea.
Maybe if they re-worked it and opened in a smaller venue, somewhere in like say... Seattle it may do better.
Not ready for Broadway evidently.
So how does one get to Carnegie Hall?

Broadway is really picky, even their great shows were pulled from the stage which is just Crazzyy! I mean they took, Hairspray, Rent, Legally Blonde, Avenue Q, the list goes on and on. If your going to be on Broadway, or have a show that meets the standards you need to sell thousands, to millions of tickets. If they have a short, or a drop, then the show gets pulled. It's a dog eat dog world, and sometimes Carrie can't even controll it haha. The show did have potential, it just wasn't written good at all.

Then they should revise Carrie! I am sure that if they pulled the right strings and all those that are fans of Carrie got together and supported it the musical could possibly grow. I am mostly dreaming I guess. I would support it.

I like the idea. The title song was very inspiring to me. It may just be the greatest show that never was (in the 80's, I mean) and I think you should give it a shot.

The songs sung by the girl who plays Carrie and the woman who plays Margaret White were Amazing, the rest of the songs weren't that good. Carrie is my fav novel so it's hard for me to hate this musical. I kind of like the special effects at the end even though it didn't really show much telekinesis it really showed pyrokinesis which is an ability shown by Charlie Mcgee (firestarter) if I might add. They could make a really good musical if they made it less goofy, got better set designs, improved on or made new songs (except for the ones sung by Carrie/Margaret) have more than one faculty member character (that never really made sense to me why Ms. Desjardin most of all actually pour fake blood on her from above ( i know that sounds creepy) instead of having Chris run up to her on stage and just pour it on her. I can compare this musical to The 1983 movie Sleepaway Camp, even though that didn't do well, many people still love it. So that almost proves that It can be done. And to Ms. Mod, The musical only lasted five nights. You can watch clips of the musical online.
