Hodder & Stoughton has announced a promotion for their publication of Under the Dome. According to their release, they have created ‘the biggest ever game of literary hide-and-seek’, a digital mystery that requires fans to dig through the internet to find these clues and deliver them back to the site. In return, they will win a weekend for two in a hotel in London, where they can read a limited edition advance copy of the book. Plus, those who fancy their writing skills can submit a 2,000-word piece in a competition to be judged by the man himself. Click here (http://www.hodder.co.uk/news_events/news.aspx?ArticleID=100) for more details.

Okay, I've read the rules for this one, and I'll have a stab at the writing competition. Looking at the release date, that gives me about three weeks to read the book, a week to write my piece, and another week to get it submitted.

Which assumes, of course, an end to the UK postal strike which is about to get into full swing! :eyebrow:

I've received this clarification from Hodder about who is eligible for the prizes:

The game is open to everyone, but the prize itself will be given
to a UK resident.

Just to try and further clarify on all aspects of this promotion. I see that anyone can participate in the "game" portion of this contest (with only UK residents eligible for the prize), but is there stronger restrictions on the writing portion? Their site for the writing entries indicates:

2. This promotion is open to all UK residents aged 18 or over at the time of entry, with the exception of employees of the Promoter, their immediate families and anyone else connected with this promotion.

So the game can be played worldwide, but only UK residents can actually participate with writing submissions?
