I saw and read where IT took 4 years to write. I was wondering if anyone knows or maybe MsMod knows...how long it took Mr. King to write the first draft of IT?
After reading and listening to On Writing..he says take 6 weeks off and write something else....I wonder if he took more than 6 weeks off after penning that monster.
I know, I know just useless factoids, but I am curious!
Best,

Great question! I was wondering this myself. How long did Mr. King work on the original draft of IT – as he calls the "closed door" draft – getting it down, not getting it right. And also, how many manuscript pages did IT come out to be compared with the Novel? (Hard Cover)

this is kinda related to the q. doin a reread, great story, up to chap 15...but the copyright says "1980"....and the last page, where sk sometimes leaves us a note about the start/finish date...says 'this book was begun in bangor maine on september 9th, 1981, and completed in bangor maine on december 28th, 1985'..............:dunno:...so how does one go about copyrighting something before it is done?....guess there is some page on the site that has a list of stuff, dates and such....and looks like by the time this is posted, it'll be 24 years since sk finished It...1985...and then there's that 'first signet printing 1981'....i'm missing something big time.
