This is my favorite of all the short stories in this book. I always took this as a view of love, I always thought of the Man as Love. How it can build you up or tear you down in an instant. My husband just thinks it's a bit about a serial killer but I read much more into it! Anyone else?

Well, I totally agree that it is about love... and obsession :smile2: and it is a great story. When I read it I always think about another SK short story - Strawberry Spring, it has the same love-hate sensation, not ot mention a few other remarkable similarities .

Good glad to know it isn't just me! I love any sick and twisted take on love, because we have all been there.

This is my favorite kind of love story. Anyone who's ever been in it or near it knows that love is dangerous. It rarely listens to reason and doesn't like to be told "No." I have fond memories of the first time I read this one and got caught by surprise -- but I enjoy even more reading it again and again and picking out all the little clues along the way that portend of something very wrong amid all the wonderful.
Simply fantastic.

It's a warped riff on love and hope for sure...our "Norma seeker" is a certified wack-job with an Apollo complex(Oh dimestore philosophy, I just love me...)

I think this is my all-time favorite short story by Stephen King. It's amazing how he conveys so much in so few pages, considering most of his "short" stories aren't. I think it's not only a take on how individuals think of love (beautiful/scary all at once), but on relationships in general. It seems that most relationships have something...lurking...just below the surface, maybe something dark. We're all a little afraid, aren't we?

Hey All:grinning:,
This was one of my favorites so far in Night Shift. I couldn't believe the twist at the end. I first thought that this was about a lonely soul who's looking for love:love:. The ending totally shocked me, makes U want to think twice when U go out with some 1. I never thought he was the 1 who was the psycho hammer killer? Did any1 else think the same thing and did U like the ending?
