hi. this story, "the ten o'clock people" is like koontz's novel twilight eyes.
different, too. the jub jub birds in this story like high places, powerful positions, like the VP. in koontz's story, they are in one town, but they show up at the carnival, too. but how would you know? how would anyone know? seems like the jub jub birds are real. be nice if you could mark them, hold a glass up to them or something. something other than photoshop. i like the concept of the chemicals balancing, those who have either refused to quit, or can't, but make do on about five a day, hence the chemical balance and their sight, their ability to see the jub jub birds. yeah, i know, they're not called that, but i think they're real, all the same.
koontz uses that corny phrase, he has twilight eyes, the character's ability to see the jub jub birds. ttop and te are good stories. the idea that there's things among us, outwardly normal, but visible to the right folk.
