I am a cat lover and really enjoyed the idea of an avenging demon cat from hell.So much horror goes on in animal experimentation that one for the felines is an interesting alternative, albeit in the world of SKs imagination.:biggrin2:

Hi,

Yeah, great story, and yet another that we have to thank Ms Mod for making available to us in JAS.

Long days and pleasant nights

I'm NOT a cat lover (dog fan myself), and loved this story. Somehow a hellish cat makes sense in my eyes (no offense intended )

I have to agree. Especially a guy that made shedloads of money from experiments. Loved chalking one up for the pussycats!

Another cat lover here (the first half of my username* is a portmanteau of my name and the Japanese word for cat). I'm always nervous when a cat shows up in a horror story/novel/film/anthology series, because they usually appear as a victim, and I almost always STOP READING (/watching) when that happens, sometimes flinging the book away in disgust (I have never flung a television set.), so I was thrilled to see a cat as avenging angel. Er, so to speak...

I also love the half-mask marking. I've seen torties with half-black, half-tan faces, but never a half-black, half-white like that. I'd love to see the photograph that inspired this story... it sounds so interesting!

My all-black kitty approves of cat vengeance, even if he doesn't have a cool Phantom of the Opera mask. (my non-black kitty would probably approve as well, but I think he's disappointed that I bought a brand-new book instead of bringing him one from the library-- he loves to smell other houses and other pets on library books!)

Constantly Reading,
Anneko Martian

*The second half of my username? Back in fifth/sixth grade, kids thought it was hilarious to call me 'Martian'. It was the nicest thing they called me. Consequently, I spent a couple years having frequent Carrie-inspired daydreams...

This has to be one of my favorite short stories that SK has ever written. I never get tired of reading it.

I liked it but I wish the previous driver had died a different way, or that the ending was a bit different. I liked the ending though, so I would rather have seen a different ending for the buttler. It just seemed like it repeated itself a little.
