No matter, because neither of them do the book justice IMO.

This book is one of my favorite SK novels and in certain days my absolute favorite. It is an excellent classical horror tale with a new edge written is real Stephen King style. Fantastic!

Sorry to diss, but I thought the movie pretty much sucked. The book is incredible, and as often the case with movie adaptations - the novel is way better than any film can be.

My mom read this book years ago, and asked me if I'd ever read it. This was because I'd caught her going to a window during the summer saying, "You can't come in!"

:smile2: Yes i know that i visit much in Salem's Lot threads but what can one do if that's greatest vampire book made? With Stoker's one of course.
To thread starter : read the book asap. Forget the movie because it will ruin your experience of Lot.

Hi, I re-read the book a couple of months ago and it is a great read. I love how economical the story telling is, how the tale moves along. I re-read Needful Things straight after Salem's Lot and it was quite interesting to see how the writing style had changed, with Needful Things feeling a bit 'bloated' compared to the lean and mean style of the Lot. (Of course I still love Needful Things though as well). Read it ASAP!

Stephen King's writing has changed! I agree in many ways for the better (Much Better). When re-reading 'SALEM'S LOT' I understood what King meant in the introduction that some of the writing makes his teeth grind or something like that. I could see that in some places. For the most part, he's always been a good writer – one of the few to take on the entertainment genre of horror with real style and grace – TALENT!

I heard himself say he wishes he was better! I must admit I can see that in someone with real ability wishing that. At the same time – you gotta just love what you have. And he has it enough to where he enjoys and loves telling stories. It is it's own reword at that point.

The older movie doesn't do the book justice, but it's still pretty damned creepy. The book is probably the least favorite novel I've read by King, but I still loved it a lot.

I have to agree that this book is one of my favorites by SK..and alot better than the movie.
