After David is attacked by Audrey and starts dreaming, he meets a hippie guy (or kinda) that tries to put David in the right road, David asks if he's God, he replies by saying that what David just said was kinda of ironic. So, the book has left me with the impression that that guy is no one but Lucifer himself. Am I right? If not, who is that guy, I'm really really curious...

Um, hi, first post here... Wasn't he Johnny? A younger version of him, back from when he was in Vietnam? I thought that the book made that pretty clear, since in the picture David found in Johnny's wallet, Johnny was wearing the exact same clothes that the guy in the dream was wearing. David even talked about why it was possible that he had met Johnny in the Land of the Dead, even though Johnny wasn't "technically" dead. Or did I somehow misunderstand this whole bit?

Yup. That's what I got from it. However, I still don't understand HOW he was in his dream . . . he wasn't dead, but later it was explained that he died in some hypothetical way. I still don't really understand that part.

What I remember of it, it was like Johnny had died "on the inside" when he had been in Vietnam. Like a part of him had died. Or something. :eyebrow:

Yeah...I think what was trying to be conveyed was that Johnny was "spiritually" dead (in direct contrast to David, by the way) and had been for a long, long, time.

David's dream was fortelling Johnny's death. He was in the land of the dead, because he was good as dead already.

Maybe a Flagg twinner?
He had the peace sign and smiley face stickers on his radio.
That's what hit me when I first read it.

He's not a Flagg twinner. Johnny had attempted suicide either during or just after Vietnam but survived, leaving only a part of himself dead. David notices scars on johnnys wrists, the same as on the man in his dream. He also finds a picture of Johnny when he was in Vietnam revealing the man in the dream to be the part of Johnny that died in the suicide attempt.
