Oh no! I hadn't heard... I'm so sorry for him, his family and friends. What a terrible battle, I guess I need to be happy that he isn't suffering any more... but still, I am very sad.

I was a big fan. Deep down I knew he wouldn't last long but when the end came it was still a shock.

I may just have to watch Dirty Dancing, To Wong Foo, and Donnie Darko this weekend. Prolly not Road House, though. :wink2: I just want to hear "Nobody puts Baby in a corner" one more time.

RIP, Patrick. We'll miss you.

This is very sad to me. He was one of my favorite actors of all times. That pottery wheel scene in Ghost is pretty much like a porno to me. He will be deeply missed. One of the great ones has fallen. We have lost so many wonderful people this year.

The world has lost a very talented person. I grew up watching Patrick Swayze in Outsiders, Grandview USA, Red Dawn, Dirty Dancing, Ghost, Next of Kin etc... He was a true heart and talented person, dancing as well as acting. He fought pancreatic cancer for about 2 years but finallly succumbed. He and his wife lived about 3 miles south of where I lived in Sunland California, they lived in Shadow Hills. He will be missed.

Hopefully they throw a few of his movies up on TV for a couple of weeks (I'm sure they will).
He did some great work, some of that stuff helped define the 80's and early 90's for me.
My condolences to those around him.

Patrick Swayze was a huge influence on me and my becoming a ballroom dance teacher. Dirty Dancing put Arthur Murray's on the map and was a big inspiration and motivator for me to become an internationally licensed teacher (as corny as that might seem).

He was a beautiful and brilliant dancer. His lines and frame were impeccable. I feel such a huge sadness for Lisa, his wife. They were the ultimate partners; on the dance floor and in life. Soul mates in every way. My heart is broken.

Really too bad. My condolences.
It's a real tragedy how the stupid tabloids showed no respect during his illness.
I sure hope that one day people will boycott such ridiculousness, so that those tabloids will no longer profit off of other people's pain.

I hate cancer.

When a loved one gets cancer, the family gets cancer. I feel so very bad for the people who loved him that he left behind. Emotional pain can be just as deadly.

RIP Swaz dawg.

I was very sad to hear the news this morning. My friend and I were sitting on my front porch waiting for the bus to pick up our daughters and she read it on her phone. My heart just dropped, he will definitely be missed by everyone. He put up such a good fight. Very very sad day...

Thanks for commenting on his dancing form. I always felt he was terrific but not being a professional, it's nice to hear from one.

I had heard that he took up dancing at his mother's urging because he had scoliosis as a child.

The scene with Demi Moore and the pottery wheel was very sensual, yes but in my opinion it conveyed the deep love that the characters felt for each other.

Such sad news!! I think it's time that no more of our 'stars' die this year, there's been way, way too many of them pass on. May he join the others and watch over the rest of us still here.

Yes, his mother was a renowned dancer and choreographer, and I believe it was in her dance class that he and Lisa met. *SIGH* I can't imagine the loss and grief she's going through right now.

It's so sad also to think his own father died at the same age, so young, at 57.

Very sad news, and such a shame.
I felt he was a very sincere and humble man, especially for a hollywood star.

My wife was nearly in tears last night. She is at an age where Dirty Dancing was the movie of her youth.
She really wants to go back to the Theatre to see the live show now. I paid for her to see it last year in London and she thought it was excellent. The Actor who played Patricks part was really good.

This is such depressing news...oh man he was indeed something. I use to watch Dirty Dancing again and again, just to watch him dance, it was magical...one of a kind. He will be missed. R.I.P Patrick Swayze!

Okay, I went and picked up a copy of Dirty Dancing on DVD. I'm planning to watch it this afternoon if I can find the time. I had to see Patrick dance again...
