View Full Version : CELL - Are phone crazies microcosms of the SK universe?

A phone crazy is a microcosm of the SK universe if the Red King were to have succeeded in bringing down the beams. Remember when the Professor at the academy talks about the mind being wiped clean so that only the ''red core'' remains, which is violent? That is an illustration of what would happen to the SK multiverse if the beams fell...there would be nothing but chaos, and then from there the Red King and forces of chaos would rebuild it from there, just as the phone-crazies' minds rebuilt themselves with psychic powers overtop of their ''red core.''

Question: Would the pulse be the result of the breakers bringing down the beams? Any references you could give to help?

I am amazed at the simple, yet profound parallels in Stephen King's fiction.

Any thoughts?

I can't remember exactly what it was (or where), but somewhere in Cell, one of the characters had thoughts about a beam breaking and a tower being damaged. Probably somewhere in the first 300 pages, if that's any help.

We all float down here.

I think 'The Breakers' (those talented mind-freaks) are analogous to most 1st world citizens these days (especially motorheads): Running around continually and thoughtlessly destroying life by polluting the world with big, noisey engines that they are loathe to let cool off. It feels really good to them while they (break the beams) destroy their environment. Many of them think it's a fun hobby. I can't imagine why they would not want to find a less destructive outlet for their personal passions.

Did you know that automobile 'accidents' cause manyfold more death and destruction every year than all the terrorists and 'warriors' combined? Cell phone and PDA usage while driving is killing and hurting someone, somewhere, every minute of every day. Like acid eating away at the beams.

I'm stupefied with amazement that this post of mine drew no comparisons with opera fans.
