It's about time , I read on Wikipedia that Rob Schmmidt is in line to direct it and it's yet start production but I'm glad it's finally getting a chance on the big screen, especially with CGI and special effects. Plus with the Dark Tower series also in the works, it might work as a perfect tie-in :glare:

Oh, man, now there's an awesome idea. A movie directed by a dead man.

Paul Newman would have been perfect to play Ralph. Or maybe it just seems that way to me 'cause I always picture Ralph as newman-esque

At first I thought it would be difficult to put Insomnia on the big screen because of its length. But looking back you can actually cut out large portions of the novel. The novel was excellent and I really liked it but I felt that it could have been shorter. Some parts just seemed to go on longer than necessary. So I believe now that it is possible to make a film adaption of it.
A recent post talked about David Lynch and Stephen King. I could picture David Lynch directing something like this because of its weird imagery (Gerald's Game would be up his alley too), especially the little men. As far as who could star in it, I could picture Gene Hackman but he's officially retired from acting now (he's actually an author now). Someone like Keifer Sutherland could be the main antagonist.

Tim Robbins would be great as Ralph Roberts. He's got the height, the good looks, the personality, and would do well with the age changes in the story.

Awesome!!! Keep us informed on the possible production of making Insomnia into a movie. I really loved the book. I read it twice, loaned it out and forgot who had it, so I bought the book again. I would love to see a movie made from the book.
