Okay, I joined the SKMB in hmmm, August 28th i think. I have only picked up a book once since then. Why, b/c I am having too much fun here. Anyone else who is newer to the board find they had the same addiction?

Welllllll, I may be the same way. I have to force myself off here most of the time. I used to be addicted to Myspace playing Mobsters (yeah, it's silly), but then my husband reminded me that I had him and 2 daughters to think about and it's time to get off the computer!! So, any form of on-line communication I'm afraid it's very easy for me to get hooked. I've still been able to read but it's hard.

You'll only truly discover the extent of your addiction by forcing yourself to stay away from the SKMB for a few days and see how you react. If you keep looking at your computer out of the corner of your eye, become very short-tempered with your loved ones, find that restful sleep is difficult to come by, and suffer any acute physical symptoms such as uncontrollable shaking, then you probably have a genuine problem, and would be advised to seek medical intervention. :cool2:

Ok, in response to that Aptpupil, I can relate to the looking at the computer out of the corner of my eye, becoming VERY short-tempered with loved ones and being away for even a couple hours makes me feel kind of like a magnet being sucked back into the world of invisible friends... I'm hopeless!

I understand the need to check in on the board, but more because I have made some very cool friends here...and some not so good! (You know who you are :eyebrow:.)
I find there is almost always something quite thought provoking being discussed in the threads, and if not, some of the responses are always worth a good belly laugh anyway!
I have never been a member of a message board before, and I was worried about what I would find, but the people are extremely welcoming and Ms Mod rocks so it's very easy to get addicted.
Try and keep up with your reading though, I still find the greatest pleasure in picking up a story and stepping into the imaginary world of the written word.

It is not so much an addiction as it is Ka. The SKMB just leaves you wanting more with each visit. Good to see all the new faces.

I would have to say yes. I am addicted. I sneak over to the other computer where people can only see the back of the moniter to get my fix. So yes.

We need to start some kind of 12 step program, because I, too, am an addict. I get up in the morning and go straight to the computer to see if I have any new messages or sparkly pictures from my friends. I bought a new book a while back, and I have not even read a quarter of it - I am too busy on the board. I come here for comfort and a shoulder to lean on. I come here for a good laugh. My friends are here. If loving the board is wrong, I don't want to be right.

I have only been a member for a couple weeks, but I am so glad to have a place to discuss the books that I love to read! None of my friends read SK, so to be able to exchange thoughts and ideas on my current reading makes the books that much more enjoyable!

not at all, I've been reading Stephen for a long time it's like an addiction, you have to go back for more. I am still trying to figure out this message board. I am a Novice.

Since my wife started working, and I`m a stay at home dad with my one year old, I have no time during the day to post.
Yet I squeeze in a peek here and there, just to see what`s going on, if only for a minute, and yeah, it does make me feel sometimes a bit agitated cos I can`t post right away to this or that thread...later on, I forget the exact thought I wanted to write down.
When my daughter grows up, I `ll tell her that she was very close to being given away for adoption so I can read and post here.
If that`s not addiction, I don`t know what is...:biggrin2:

Not only am I addicted to this particular board, but I am also addicted to Palaver (a dark tower message board.) I do more posting about about SK on message boards than I do reading! I need to start reading books again!

It's extremely addicting. However, since I can't take the computer to bed with me, that's when I read books. It's also good that there are set hours on the MB, because it forces you to go do something else!

Yeah. When I have the time, the MB does become an addiction; especially when I'm trying to read everything at once. :oo:
But you know what else I'm addicted to? The reviews on Amazon. Can't get enough of them, especially on anything King. Very insightful some of them. :smile2:
Oh...and the one star reviews on Amazon of the Twilight series. They are priceless. I think I enjoy them maybe a bit too much.

I am new to these boards, and was shocked to find that this thing was run so well. I've been on 6-10 message boards as I have grown up with the net and Massivly Multiplayer Everythings.
I like that there is a smaller population here than I expected. I cannot believe how much information Ms. Mod is able to divulge here, or that she bothers to gather and post it. I am hooked!!
