The original movie is one example of good cast, and good effort. The sequel no go! The book is still better.

Book is by far the best. The movie should be redone I think as todays special effects and stuff would make it much better than it was although it did creep me out at one time especially the insane mother lol!

I guess I'm the weirdo around here; I kinda like all of them to one extent or another.
The original movie is good, especially tonally ... but I really hate Piper Laurie as Carrie's mother.
The tv remake is underrated, in my opinion. I know the massive changes to the novel are hard to get around, but I don't really mind them too much. Patricia Clarkson is great as Carrie's mom.
The "sequel" is basically just a ripoff, but as far as ripoffs go, it's relatively enjoyable on a b-movie level. Emily Bergl is really good playing this movie's version of Carrie (can't remember her actual name), and I thought there was at least one good scare.
None of 'em touch the novel, though; it's still one of my favorites. I'd love to see a really high-quality remake at some point, and as remake-happy as Hollywood seems to currently be, I'd bet one ain't too far off.

I enjoyed it and it made me jump. The original movie, that is.
Never saw the other ones, never read the book. It was on instant-play on Netflix so I watched it today for the 1st time.

LOVE the original movie, it's got two of my favorite actors, Sissy Spacek and John Travolta. Plus I LOVE Piper Laurie as Margaret. I saw what I think is the sequal, it was good for a horror movie, but didn't do Carrie justice. Also, didn't realize there was a made for TV movie, I'll have to look into that one.

I just watched the original movie last night after I finished reading Carrie. It was better than I expected. I did not think that John Travolta made a good Billy Nolan. I pictured Nolan as a much rougher character. I did not like the end. I preferred Carrie leaving before destroying the school and I missed her mother stabbing her in the shoulder. Overall I felt the original offered a brief summary of the book with many of the best parts missing.

The original film is a classic. There's no room for the TV movie or sequel.

Book>movie>tv movie for me.
I always tend to like the books better because I create my own vision of the characters based on the written descriptions and many times the actors don't match that very well.

I agree with bryantburnette...I too like them all. The books of course are going to be better than anything as you have to use your imagination, and we all set the scene differently. The Movies, tv versions and sequels are all good, its better than not having them at all, and be stuck watching reruns of tv's crappy sitcoms.

I agree with Misery Knight. I liked the original movie a lot but the way Carrie killed her mum was way better in the book...

Carrie was the first movie based on a SK's novel that I ever watched and I loved it. I have not seen the new version or the sequel, so I guess I can't compare, but nothing beats originals anyway imho. It's like the movie Jaws I think. The first movie was the most popular and the most scary, and I have seen them all. Carrie was well directed and well acted too. Sissy Spacek was just incredible as Carrie.

I actually saw Carrie at the movie theatre when it first came out. It really freaked me out. I loved it. I wasn't even aware of the TV version or of a sequel. I sort of liked the way Carried killed her mother in the movie because of the symbolism of it and I think that the way she killed her in the book wasn't as "exciting" to show on the big screen. That is probably why they changed it.

I just caught the TV movie on Lifetime Movie Network, and I *really* liked it! My opinion could be influenced by the fact that I LOVE Angela Bettis, the quirky gal who plays Carrie in the TV movie (first saw her in "May" which is a most groovy-quirky-horror movie and one of my favorites of all time). I felt most of the diversions from the novel helped make it relevent to kids today (it was rated TV14). Of course I love the book and the original film, and like bryantburnette found the sequel "Carrie 2" a mildly enjoyable way to kill some time. All of that said, if they make anything of Mr. King's into a picture, I'll look at it!
