I have relatives who live in Port Clinton, Ohio, which I gather is a fairly obscure place. Anyone know of it?

Nah, Port Clinton is not that obscure, if you go to Put In Bay, you take the ferry from Port Clinton. I'm an hour east of it and one of my best buddies is an hour west of it. Most people know of Port Clinton :) At least if you're pretty familiar with Lake Erie.

All of us that live in Ohio should get together sometime in the year. I think that would be fun. We could have a dinner and sit around and introduce ourselves and talk about all of King's works :)

I no longer live there, but was born in Akron. My family is still all around that area. Go Buckeyes!

Dinner?? Are you mad?? :D I demand something much rowdier, man! I can have dinner at home... If it's a Stephen King get together and there are enough people, I propose an SK universe themed Halloween party or something like that!!

I was born and raised in Ohio, then moved to Arizona when I was 15. I come from Ottawa, about 60 miles from Bowling Green.

I am fanatically loyal to my native state of Alabama. Perhaps this is because I haven't been there since a brief visit in 1976. Its an easy place to love from afar....

I recall very little from that visit (I was five), other than it was the first time I ever A) rode in the back of a truck, and B) drank a Mountain Dew. Mountain Dew was still a regional soda back then; it hadn't really become well-known in Northern California. I thought it was the greatest tasting stuff on Earth, although in retrospect, that may have been because of my age, and consequent lack of sophisticated tastes. The name "mountain dew" stems from an old term for moonshine, however, and that's pretty cool.

"Oh they call it that old mountain dew, and them that refuse it are few! I'll hush up my mug if you fill up my jug, with that good ol' mountain dew!"

I realize this is off-topic...but I didn't really want to start an Alabama thread. I haven't been to Ohio since 1972, when I was a baby, and thus have little knowledge of the place.

One of my best buddies is in the Perrysburg/Waterville area right by there. I'm up that way all the time. It's a nice area, but why the heck are the roads so slick?

I've lived in Ohio for most of my life, born in Texas in 1991, family moved to Ohio when I was just 2 years old, moved around to couple other states with my dad after he divorced my mom, mom has been Ohio ever since, at the moment living with my dad and his girlfriend in Canal Winchester, near Columbus, mom lives in Portsmouth, OH; it's an all right place I guess haha, good to know there's quite a few Ohioans, a meet-up would be cool

Well in the winter it is because of the ice ;). But, in all honesty Ohio has one of the best highway and roadway systems in America. Try driving in Michigan, Indiana, or Kentucky... gag :eek2:. They are constently updating roads, which does cause a lot of construction, but worth it. Sometimes when the roads are freshly paved they are a bit slick when wet. Other than that I have no idea. Slick roads are fun!
