I reently read the Mist and it seems that although the two ideas for these stories are different the themes seemed link. I felt the theme of the Mist was about how different people react under circumstances and how they cope by being trapped...it seems from the plot outline Under The Dome deals with how people react and keep power like the politican (can't remember his name sorry) in a similiar way to how in The Mist Mrs Carmody gains control of the desperate people to get them to do what see believes.

I'd like to see how Mr King deals with this theme again and I can't wait to see how things play out for the people of Chester's Mill.

It's a common theme that permeates most of King's work.

The theme (that of a group of people who get cut off from civilization and how they handle it) is common throughout literature (and even some tv reality shows--Survivor, for example).
