Only SK could create a nightmare like Geralds Game. It haunted me for weeks and It is truely fantastic that the book has only one character. Killing off the only other character, Gerald at the very start.

I agree. Not one of the better known stories. Would make a fabulous film. Especially when the dog comes in. But when opening a jar I always remember lefty loosey righty tighty

The same is true for The Girl who Loved Tom Gordon, and I also enjoyed it - very Hitchcock.

Whenever I would take a break from reading and a friend of mine would be over, she would always ask what's going on in the book; the story facinated her since I started talking to her about it. She doesn't read, but she mentioned it would make a great movie.

"Nightmare" is spot on. I've read every SK book and personally find Gerald's Game to be the most horrific - not necessarily in terms of Jessie's escape from her predicament (that was just gross ), but in terms of the psychological feel of the book and her encounters with The Space Cowboy/Raymond Andrew Joubert.

I'm convinced that Joubert is the nastiest character ever created in the mind of Stephen King. The final encounter between Jessie and Joubert in the courtroom sends shivers up my spine when you find out for sure that he wasn't just moonlight and shadows in Jessie's mind.

I was kind of surprised that Gerald died so quickly in the book. I guess it was necessary to create the situation of isolation and desperation for Jessie. Great book though!

The problem is the movie would have to have an n-17 rating due to the fact that Jessie was topless almost the entire time.:oh:
