I've been looking up what movies are being remade in the next while and stumbled over this on imdb:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0837563/
It's true, there are almost zero details, but I hope they do it justice. I loved the book, liked the original movie, and while I don't really see the need for a remake, I'd give it a chance.

I would say high-ish. "Sometimes dead is better".

I make it 10 minutes into the movie and are really creeped out and shut it off. The book is on my winter to read list. Haven't read it before. (amazingly enough).

I always thought the best part of the 1989 original were the closing credits, with the Ramones title song...
I just hope the remake is going to be better, since now there are no Ramones to save the movie.

...I honestly can't wait for the remake, lol. I'm all for the classics, but I didn't grow up watching those movies. I guess you could say I'm more of a modern guy.

I think the original movie was pretty good and in such cases making a remake is a pretty risky deed... I wouldn't mind giving it a try, but I'm not feeling all that optimistic.

You never know, with all the modern CGI stuff we have now, this remake might actually be pretty good. (The original wasn't bad either, but...) I wonder who would play the kid? Is there one out there as creepy as the first one?

I watched both movie Pet Sematary I and II. The first one was my favorite, the cat and the kid really creeped me out to say the least : ) The second movie was ok but the characters did not engage me into the movie like the first one.

I am open-minded about a Pet Semetery remake. The sequel was awful, and the original was a good movie. I like the location of the original because it's how you picture it in the novel.

I am very excited for a remake, I'm glad that they are doing this one but I really wish they would remake It. I think that would be a good remake.

I just watched Pet Semetary on AMC for the first time in years. I wouldn't mind seeing a remake but the original did SO MANY things right. Fred Gwynne as Jud Crandall, that damn cat, the subconscious use of the speeding trucks through the whole movie, the atmosphere and music, and the kids voice as he taunted the adults at the end. That being said, there is plenty of room for improvement in the remake. Better over all casting and special effects. More time to develope the characters and plot. Now that I've thought about it, I can't wait for a remake :)

My thoughts on a Pet Sematary remake...not too sure what to think of it. I agree with Glewman on the point that the original had a very good atmosphere, and that Fred Gwynne was great as Jud. A remake could be a big swing and miss. It really depends on whose making it. Someone who just wants to shoot another horror movie into the wind, or somebody who really wants to make a good movie. If they keep it very close to the book, it should be a good movie.

Hi, welcome...are you the "spellcheck police?"
People make mistakes when typing so wanna hope that first post doesn't come back to kick you in the ass at a later date.
Just sayin'.

haven't seen the original movie in years, but i hope they do this right. there are many parts in the book that really got to me, such as the giant monster that walks over the father when he's taking his boy up to the cemetery, and when the demon speaks in Jud's wife's voice and reveals that she was sleeping with all his friends and laughing at him while they were in bed (and remember, the demon only spoke truth according to the book). those instances really got to me and i'd like to see them translated onto film.

never actually watched the whole movie all the way through. Not because it was too frightening, just because there are some movies you never finish for random reasons. The book was positively terrifying. It's hard to do that kind of irrational utter terror justice in film format. I might just say it's the most terrifying thing I've read. Shining comes close, though. When you read something that has the power to make you think twice before going to the bathroom in the middle of the night for fear of the bathtub not being quite empty, you know you're in Kingsland.
I digressed, shoot me.

I've always been a bit conflicted by this movie....as a horror movie it's damn creepy but for me it hits a little bit too close to the bone. I've got it in my collection but I won't watch it again. The remake of 'Salems Lot & The Shining were both better than the original imho, for me mainly because I preferred the casting in the remakes, and I don't think they'll be able to replace Fred Gwynne with anyone better as Jed.
