a genuine, proper ghost story. it just gets better with subsequent reads. Would make a good film, yes or no?

Hi,

Welcome to the MB, and keep posting!

It's in the pre-production stages, I believe, but I'd rather it was afforded the time of HBO (say) than crammed into cinema release length.

Long days and pleasant nights

If they are going for cinema length, then as a two hour long movie, it could work. But as an hour and a half, no.

But I do like the 4 - 6 hr ones made for tv 'cause they become absorbing, which reflects the nature of King's books.

I totally agree. I don't like it when they cut down a SK novel just to fit the time frame, I'd rather sit through 4-6 (or in the case of The Stand 8) hours and really understand what's going on.

It has to be at least 2hrs, then yes. But I hope they're careful. :(

Not sure if that's a movie I'd care to see... The story's excellent but some scenes are extremely hard to read not to say watch.

I love that book. The audiobook is also awesome, narrated by Stephen King himself. I'm sure whoever made a go at it would do it justice. I honestly an hard pressed to think of a Stephen King adaptation I haven't liked yet.

The story is awesome but personally i think there are way to many Hollywood made ghost movies that just arn't very good. I would hate to see some producer really really miss the point of this book..just to fit a time frame and such..

I think this would make a great movie if done properly. I recall a rumor that BOB was to be made into a film and Bruce Willis to play Mike Noonan, but apparently nothing came of that! I think Darabont would be the man for the job, so many deep emotions are involved, you would really need a fantastic cast to play all the wonderful characters. Any thoughts on who you guys would choose to play Kyra Devore? As for Max Devore, I can't help but picture him as Monty Burns from the Simpsons, too bad he couldn't "play" that part, hehe!!
