Out of all the stories in this book this had to be my favourite. I don't know whether it was the ideal or the way it was written but something about it pulled me in and never let go. The ending especially was a good twist.

Not sure if it's the best in the collection - there are a lot of good stories in there, IMO - but it's well up there. For me, it had a strong appeal because it was so Twilight Zone/Outer Limits, and the final twist really nailed it on my first read.
I've said before that Skeleton Crew is my favourite collection (The Mist, The Jaunt, Mrs Todd's Shortcut, The Raft, Beachworld, Word Processor of the Gods), but I Am the Doorway compares well with anything in there - despite being published (and presumably written) earlier.

The problem we came across is the word orlesque page 74, it is on their vocabulary list and we can not find the definition anywhere. Can you help us? ...

p 72 my usa pbc. one of the few instances sk uses a word i have to look up
lot of these stories in this collection repeat that cyclical evil theme thingy. o! the wheels on the bus go 'round and 'round! comforting, too, hey, that "this site may harm your computer." great. like i don't have enough to worry about. :D

It's a pretty good story - the idea and how it is written. But I think this entire collection is a pretty fantastic one.

I loved this story, it's one of my favorites out of this collection. It was one that I wanted to keep going, to see what would happen next. I wanted more details to know exactly what they did to kill people. And to me, wanting more means it's a sign of a good story.

This story was pretty awesome! It made me squirm, when the guy described what was happening to his hands......disgusting!!! & the ending was great! I thought after he burned his hands, that was it. But I was surprised by the ending-it was great!

Can you imagine that the itch in your hands is so bad that you have to put them in a fire to burn them off ? Wow, that makes me shudder just thinking about it.

I loved this story. I'm not sure if I've ever laughed harder at another Stephen King story. I mean, just picturing a guy running full speed with his arms stretched straight above his head.
Maybe it's just me. That's not the only reason I liked it, it was definitely an interesting story.

My favorite short story of King's. There's something that makes me keep reading it, and always being fascinated by it. It's probably has to do with the concept of something taking over your body/mind. That kind of terror I eat up like cake.

Really enjoyed this, but one thing annoyed me. If the Alien was powerful enough to command lightening (or whatever energy it was) why is it just happy(ish) to sit in a disabled old Astronaut? Surely it should of been more controlling of it's host...again the ending was very 'Tales From The Crypt'
