Hi there

Well, I like the ending - a lot, but it's not really an ending at all. It is part of a trilogy (or so we hope) and Black House continues with the story and the main characters.

Enjoy...

Hi,

AWMS (And What Michal Said).

I like it as well but dissing it just now is like putting down The Fellowship of the Ring IMO; let's wait for Talisman 3 before jumping to any conclusions, maybe si, maybe no?

i LOVED the ending. i love when sk gets into those long rambling verging-on-psychedelic-imagery sentences, they blow me away. the end of that book made me cry, which i thought was funny considering i knew he'd save his mother, i mean what would be the point of the rest of the book if he didn't? but it was so well written. i love that line, too: 'even a boy can be a black hotel', such a great message.

and i wondered - is richard necessary to be in the hotel purely to teach jack the art of letting go of things, to test him and make sure he doesn't become greedy like morgan?

As much as I love the Talisman and Jacky Sawyer, the ending isn't exactly my favorite part of the book (which would be mainly the part starting with Jack's detour to Oatley and continuing with Jack on the road with Wolf). Not saying the ending was bad, though.

As for why it was so imperative for Richard to be in the hotel, that's what I was wondering ever since I've read the book. But I really like thymeoperator's suggestion.

I'll admit the ending wasn't my favorite part of the book (as barbster mentioned, the whole sequence with Wolf was undoubtedly the best for me), but it was freakin awesome when Jack first touched the Talisman and all the people he had met along his journey simultaneously either rejoiced (those that were good) or were brutally ended (those that were bad). Absolute masterful storytelling if you ask me. I will say that I didn't care for how abruptly things came to a close after that, but that one moment really stuck with me.

Even though you knew Jacky would save his mother the ending was sweet.

Wolf = one of SK's best characters. Right here and now

Why? I think it's a good ending! The continuation of the Black House.

Man, if you didn't like the ending of Talisman you are going to absolutely hate the way Black House ends.

I already forgot what happened with Richard, and I only read the book maybe 6 months ago... i remember he was in horrible shape and came to the hotel with Jack, but then what? i didn't see anything wrong with the ending. I thought it fit perfectly

I enjoyed the whole book & maybe the ending wasn't what I expected or wanted, but many of SK's books end that way for me. Sometimes things turn out good, sometimes he has them turn out bad, & somtimes things are just left hanging, leaving only the future to look forward to. Sometimes, (for me), wondering is better than actually having a definite ending because that is more like real life. SK has ended quite a few stories like that & I've appreciated all of them.

I didnt love it, I didn't hate it. I think it contained closure and ended the story.
