i just listen to the audio of the stand where it says the date was the 70s and the date in the book is the 80s

You have undoubtedly gotten a copy of the Books on Tape edition (which, I think, was the only one out there) of the original version of The Stand. I don't think the Uncut Stand was ever issued on tape.

Wasn't there a paperback edition of The Stand that updated the timeline by a decade, before the release of the uncut version of the novel?
