I saw this over the weekend. It wasnt too bad. Its starred Chrstian slater as Dolan and wes Bently (America Beauty) as Robinson. The Dolans scenes were kind of cheesy but the end in the pit where he was going insane was done really good. If you have seen this, chime up and let as all know what you thought.

How did you see this? It hasn't even come out yet. It's set to release in December 2009. This doesn't make any sense.

I am however extremely excited and impatient to see it this winter. I think Christian Slater will make a great Jimmy Dolan.

It reminded me of King's Road work and the movie Telephone booth because of the tiny space and psychological moments at the end.
Yes, I must have watched a not fully done version of the movie.
In any case, final release of Dollan's Cadillac would really be worth seeing.

Good film, some wonderful monologues here and there. I liked the structure of the film, nicely done. And the same time it was pretty sick with the sex trade, and finally the children.
Sometimes the movie was very strange which draws down the grade.

Pretty good movie. Probably the worst of the good Stephen King adaptations, which I would rate as being The Mist, The Shawshank Redemption, Stand By Me, Secret Window, Misery, The Shining, and Dolan's Cadillac. Maybe half-credit to Pet Semetary.
Although I've never seen Dolores Claiborne.

Hi,
It does seem bizarre to me that you can walk into a shop in Sweden and buy the DVD long before the film has a cinema release in the US or UK though!

I saw this yesterday. Thought it was really good, and definately one of the better adaptations. A few changes here and there, but that goes without saying. The woman in the bed scene is a bit gruesome (which is good). Will be buying it when it comes out on DVD.

I just finished this story last night. I found the story to be excellent. I felt such sympathy for the main character from losing his wife to his back and his blisters. I won't watch the trailer since it tells the whole story. I'll wait for the actual release and see if the movie lives up to the story.

The movie was great, not the best adaptation ever, but pretty well done still. I especially liked the part where Dolan's SUV goes into the hole, pretty cool, it's like it's there one moment, gone the next. But, still, very well done.

Hi,
I watched it last night and I think CJ summed it up very well - it ain't no Shawshank (but I think only Frank Darabont's capable of interpreting Sai King so well!) but it's a very good and enjoyable movie and well worth a watch IMO

My husband and I watched last night. We liked it. Christian Slater played Dolan well. It took me back to the way I felt when I read the book. Especially when he just kept shoveling dirt one scoop at at time on top of the vehicle. I actually felt a little claustrophobic reading the story but the movie amplified that feeling even more. Good stuff. I wonder what SK thought about the film. Does anyone know? Ms. Mod. did he comment on the movie at all? Just curious, that's all.

Hi,
Yes, I agree, and I thought he made himself a good candidate to play Randall Flagg.

I saw Dolans Cadilac on DVD this weekend and liked it. I thought at first Christian Slater would have made a good Robinson, but on reflection he was good as the totally amoral Dolan. I thought Robinson was very well cast and he played a man with a mission very well. Loved watching Slater begging and going crazy. Although there were some changes to the story I thought were unnecessary, all in all it kept to the point of the story, and got the point across nicely.:grinning:

For the majority of the movie I was thinking it didn't at all live up to the story and that with the exception of Christian Slater the acting was fairly poor. And not just because I'm a Slater fan but because objectively he was actually really good!
BUT, the end of the movie was incredible and a great representation of the story. So good in fact that the main character (Wes Bentley) redeemed himself completely and I forgave the mediocre acting I had watched up until that point. And of course not a surprise to me, Christian Slater really turning it up for the ending scenes as well. The ending completely sold the whole movie and took me right back to the story...Good Stuff!
