days where you want the stand to happen? So you can actually prove to yourself you are actually worth something, and there is a purpose for your life?

Do you mean the plague in the book, or the triumphant Stand in the end?

If you mean the story of the book and the plague then no.... if you mean having an experience like the Stand in the end then yes.

I meant The Triumphant end, So you can prove to yourself and to those who never believed in you and said you would amount to nothing.

Absolutely. I'm totally in favour of 99% of the planet's population being wiped out! That would coincide nicely with the percentage of people walking this Earth that I have trouble tolerating. :cool2:

That brings up another good point. If The stand happened what character would you be?

Not so much the bit about proving yourself, but when I was younger (particularly in junior high and high school) I fantasized about the events. I was kind of the scapegoat of my class, so the plague sounded lovely. Now, certainly not; I have a husband and a little girl.

I would have to be written in as Nick's significant other ;)

I sometimes feel like that just wondering if I had what it takes, and also I would be intrested to see the dicotomy of the sides...I feel like I would be drawn to the free zone...but who knows, my destiny may lie in the west!?! jk haha

Whenever I hear about something awful people have done to other humans, animals or nature I feel that ache in my heart, or whenever I hear about fantasist, racism, violence towards men, women and children, ignorance, cruelty and hate I wonder if it wouldn't be great just makign a fresh start.

Of course, as The Stand aspires to teach us, humans change very little and at time... Well, time is a face on the water, or a wheel, and you won't change things for the better if you relieve them over again, just end up at the same bad point, feeling dumber than ever.

Beautiful point, and love the DT referance!! I also sometimes wonder whether a fresh start would save us, but I fear more strongly that the mistakes we make as humans would only continue. Thankee-sai, you speak true.

Yes, on really bad days. I know that is mean and hateful, but sometimes after a day in the city, after dealing with people bumping in to you, asking for change, crowded buses, rude, drunk or high, obnoxious crazy people, I wish that very much.

Yeah, I've thought about it too. I would really love the chance to see exactly what I'm capable of. Plus it would be one hell of an adventure. Of course, I'd be sad that my friends and loved-ones were gone.

I love post-apocalyptic fiction, so with any of these stories, and especially with the Stand, sometimes I just wish the apocalyse would come, and I could survive, just to have a great adventure like this.

I mean, come on, who doesn't want to be able to do something as epic as running around after the apocalypse and fighting the bad guys?

I'm not sure about The Stand... but I deffinitely wouldn't put up too much of a fight if a couple of Gunslingers barged in my house and dragged me through a Magic Door on a Quest for the Dark Tower... that I wouldn't mind at all. Lol

haha I loved thinking that while reading the book.
I ALWAYS wanted to be one of the Spies that went to Vegas
to spy on Randall. So fun. They should so make THE STAND game for
Playstation3 and xbox360. and for IT, and CELL, haha. DARK TOWER game,
dude...haha.:wow:

I'm not sure what being manipulated by a supreme being whose designs are beyond my understanding would prove, exactly -- but I think most people stand up for what they believe is right more often than they realize.

EVERY day is a "Stand" day for me. Working in a prison as I do, most days I'd like to deliver a big old brimming cup of "Captain Trips" with their pill call...I know I have a jaundiced view of this, but if I were to choose-I'd like to think I'd have the internal fortitude to make my own "Stand" if I didn't cough up a big old phlegm ball first...

First I am up to 16 heart breaks. second I had a really weird dream two weeks ago, I was actually in the stand, or a Stand situation, all I extremely remember was me and my group of people were raiding a gas station, and we found someone. what makes it weirder, Someone I know does not read stephen King, my friend, had the same exact dream. odd.:oh:
